Bangkok studio BASE reopens its gyms safely and strongly

BANGKOK, THAILAND - Bangkok fitness studio BASE has reopened its doors with a big focus on providing a safe training environment, without compromising the customer experience that helped them win Bangkok’s Best Fitness Studio 2020 at the ClassPass Awards.

In an effort to go above and beyond, BASE have implemented numerous health and safety measures such as temperature screening, reduced classes to allow for social distancing and a rigorous cleaning schedule throughout the day.

BASE is opening up its three gyms in phases, slowly reintroducing services when it is safe to do so, based on the best current advice and recommendations from the WHO and the Thai government.

“Gyms play a very important role in our physical and mental wellbeing and research shows that having a strong body and immune system is crucial in fighting off viruses and illness” said Jack Thomas, founder and CEO of BASE.

“We strongly support the Thai government’s decision to allow gyms to reopen and we are absolutely committed to providing a safe and clean space for people to workout, have fun and improve their health”.

The worldwide fitness industry faces numerous challenges such as restoring member confidence, government regulation and a possible looming economic recession.

Sitting at the premium end of the market, BASE is tackling these challenges by investing in industry-leading technology to track and record fitness stats, as well as focusing on 5-star service and a strong community of coaches and members.

Zoom meetings and conferences are now the norm, and fitness is no different with many companies around the world taking their programs online. Industry-leading digital fitness companies like Peloton have seen a large uptick this year in their share price and customer base.

Responding to this market shift and opportunity, BASE has developed a digital fitness platform called BASE Anywhere - a mix of live Zoom workouts and ‘on-demand’ recorded videos. In just a few months, the platform has grown into a community of over 150 members based around the world.

Many have touted the future of the fitness industry as a ‘hybrid model’ of online and offline fitness being offered side by side. This allows members more flexibility and choice and gives gyms the opportunity to reach more people and provide another revenue stream.

BASE is open for personal training and group classes with advanced booking.

Introducing Aruba ESP, the Industry’s First Cloud-Native Platform Built for the Intelligent Edge

New Platform Uses AI and Automation to Convert Data into Actionable Insights; Supports Business Continuity and Recovery to Address Rapidly Evolving Organizational Needs
Thailand June 18,2020 – Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (NYSE: HPE), today introduced Aruba ESP(Edge Services Platform), the industry’s first AI-powered, cloud-native platform that predicts and resolves problems at the network edge before they happen. Built on AIOps, Zero Trust network security, and a Unified Infrastructure for campus, data center, branch and remote worker locations, Aruba ESP delivers an automated, all-in-one platform that continuously analyzes data across domains, ensures SLAs, identifies anomalies and self-optimizes, while seeing and securing unknown devices on the network. Aruba ESP is designed to deliver a cloud experience at the edge and can be consumed either as a service in the cloud or on-premises, as a managed service delivered through Aruba partners, or via network as a service through HPE GreenLake. Tailored for varying economic requirements, customers may also procure it with flexible financing options via HPE Financial Services.

The technology market undergoes a major transition about once every decade. The last two decades were centered on delivering ubiquitous mobility followed by the move to cloud-based applications. We are now entering an era of data analytics driven by IoT, AI and automation supported by compute and modern networking to power a new breed of applications and workloads that work in concert with the cloud but that operate at the edge. As a result, enterprises are generating massive amounts of unstructured data at the edge which, if analyzed and acted upon properly, can be used to improve efficiencies, enhance experiences and enable new business outcomes. The key to turning these real-time insights into meaningful actions is to analyze and process this data at the point of origin – the edge – where people, devices and things connect to the digital world. This ability to generate actionable insights based on data is especially pertinent today during this unprecedented time in history where businesses, employees and, subsequently, the corporate network must adapt to rapidly evolving business and workplace needs.

Utilizing unstructured data at the edge requires a network that leverages AI via network telemetry to process that data at a rate and volume beyond what’s possible at human scale. It also requires an infrastructure with an AI-powered “sixth sense” that proactively identifies impending issues, recommends an accurate resolution and leverages automation to turn that into logical actions, all without manual intervention. Through continued analysis of network, user, and device insights, Aruba ESP turns information into knowledge, helping organizations accelerate transformation and maintain business continuity via a single, cloud-native platform that can reside either on-premises or in the cloud, and secures and unifies the infrastructure across the enterprise built on the following core principles:
  • AIOps is the critical component of Aruba ESP, which uses AI and analytics to identify exact root causes with greater than 95% accuracy, auto-remediate network issues, proactively monitor the user experience, tune the network to prevent problems before they occur, and use peer benchmarking and prescriptive recommendations to continuously optimize and secure the network. In a live customer deployment, using AIOps resulted in a 15% increase in throughput capacity and reduced issue resolution time by nearly 90%, ultimately resulting in a vastly improved end user and IT experience.
  • Unified Infrastructure consolidates all network operations for switching, Wi-Fi and SD-WAN across campus, data center, branch, and remote worker environments under Aruba Central, a cloud-native, single-pane-of-glass console that correlates cross-domain events to reduce issue resolution time and manual errors. In addition, Aruba’s unified infrastructure approach provides customers with a choice between controller services on-premises or in the cloud, delivering maximum flexibility at enterprise scale.
  • Zero Trust Network Security combines built-in role-based access technology, Dynamic Segmentation and identity-based intrusion detection to authenticate, authorize and control every user and device connecting to the network, while still detecting, preventing, isolating and stopping attacks before they impact the business.
“The Aruba Edge Services Platform (ESP) is designed to help organizations by leveraging data telemetry from their networks to reduce complexities by automating more IT Operation tasks. This allows organizations to solve complex IT issues faster while securing the unified infrastructure across campus, branches and now micro branches in homes, leaving more time and resources to focus on innovation,” said Justin Chiah, Senior Director of South East Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong/Macau, and Product Category, Asia Pacific and Japan of Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. “Aruba ESP is even more relevant in the wake of today’s varying economic environments, as we are seeing businesses step up their digital transformation gear and much of that change depends on having agile, scalable, cloud-native and secure network management tools.”

New Innovations Within Aruba ESP

Aruba ESP is the industry’s most scalable, full-stack, cloud-native platform for wired, wireless and SD-WAN environments that unifies multiple network elements for centralized management and control. Aruba ESP is based on open standards and enables integration with a variety of third-party solutions and services. Significant innovations introduced today include:
  • Cloud-native management for any size enterprise– Aruba Central currently runs mission critical networks for over 65,000 customers and now with new ArubaOS services, it is the industry’s only controllerless, cloud-based platform to provide full-stack management and operations for wired, wireless and SD-WAN infrastructure of any size across campus, data center, branch, and remote worker locations to be consumed on-premises or in the cloud.
  • Simplified daily operations with unified infrastructure– With access to a common data lake via Aruba ESP, the latest version of Aruba Central has been enhanced with simplified navigation, advanced search, and contextual views to present multiple dimensions of information through a single point-of-control, virtually eliminating the need for disparate tools to collect and correlate information across numerous domains and locations.
  • Reduced resolution time with AI and automation – Aruba has a proven track record of bringing AI-powered innovations to market, including unique technologies like Aruba AirMatch. Based on modeling data from over one million network devices generating over 1.5B data points per day, Aruba’s new AI Insights reduces troubleshooting time by identifying hard-to-see network configuration issues and providing root-cause, prescriptive recommendations and automated remediation to continuously optimize network operations.
  • AI-powered IT Efficiencies—Aruba Central now offers AI Search, a Natural Language Processing data discovery service that enables IT teams to eliminate “swivel chair” investigations by using simple, English language queries to extract comprehensive user and device information from Aruba ESP’s common data lake to present relevant information in context to quickly resolve a problem. For more complex issues, AI Assist uses event-driven automation to collect and post all the relevant data for both the internal help desk and Aruba TAC.
  • Granular visibility across applications, devices and the network – Enhancements to Aruba Central enable user-centric analytics from User Experience Insight to identify client, application, and network performance issues faster.
  • Extension of next-gen switching to distributed and mid-size enterprises – To help organizations accelerate Edge transformation, Aruba has expanded its CX Switch portfolio to include the Aruba CX 6200 Switch Series. This new series brings built-in analytics and automation capabilities to every network edge where user and device connectivity occurs, generating insights that can be applied to informing better business outcomes. The CX 6200 switch series further expands Aruba’s end-to-end CX switching portfolio, enabling customers to run a single operating model from the enterprise campus and branch access layer to the data center.
  • Ongoing innovation with new Developer Hub – Aruba is introducing the Developer Hub, a comprehensive resource for developers that includes Aruba APIs and documentation to streamline the development of innovative, next-generation edge applications leveraging the open Aruba ESP platform.
“Our large-scale network spans multiple campuses and learning centers that run performance-stringent applications to keep our students, academics and researchers connected and productive,” said Ron Gardner, senior infrastructure engineer at James Cook University. “We have chosen to take a cloud-first approach to operating our infrastructure and the enhancements to Aruba Central and ArubaOS give us the visibility and insight to simplify operations while reducing our equipment footprint and securely manage our large campuses and distributed locations from the cloud, ultimately allowing us to proactively identify and address issues before they disrupt operations.”

To address the varying business and technical requirements of organizations looking to harness the power of the Intelligent Edge, Aruba has expanded its consumption and procurement options. These includenetworkas a service through HPE GreenLake or customers can procure Aruba ESP with flexible financing options via HPE Financial Services. For example, customers can acquire the technology they need today and pay only 1% of the total contract value each month for the first eight months, deferring over 90% of the cost until 2021.
“With the size of our infrastructure and massive volume of data being generated at the edge, we needed a way to identify, fix and fine-tune the network automatically,” said Brandon Stratton, ES network administrator of Information Technology at the University of Houston. “Aruba’s expertise and approach with AI-based solutions, like NetInsight, represents a pragmatic path for us to analyze and then act on the insights we capture.”

Signing Ceremony of the Ratchaphatsadu Land Lease Agreement
for Electricity Generation and Chilled Water Supply in Development of
U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Project
Mr. Sontirat Sontijirawong, Energy Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand presided over the Signing Ceremony of the Agreement to Lease State land (Ratchaphatsadu) for the Purpose of Producing Electricity and Chilled Water at the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Development Project between the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO) and B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (BGRIM). Dr. Kanit Sangsubhan, Secretary-General of the EECO; and Mr. Harald Link, Chairman of B.Grimm, and Mrs. Preeyanart Soontornwata, President of B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited participated in the signing ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Bangkok. The event was witnessed by representatives from relevant government agencies and private companies and organisations.
The Public Private Partnership Agreement of the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Project which was signed on Friday 19 June 2020 is considered one of the key infrastructure investment projects of the EEC to elevate the U-Tapao International Airport  to become “Bangkok’s Third Major Commercial International Airport”, with connection to Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi International Airports via high-speed rail link. The three airports will be able to accommodate a total of 200 million passengers a year. The region is poised to become the centre of tourism industry, the logistics and aviation hub as well as becoming the “Eastern Aerotropolis” thus driving Thailand towards becoming an aviation hub and Asia’s economic gateway.

The project to produce electricity and chilled water is part of the utilities system development in the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City that will prime the area to accommodate the expansion of passengers, logistics and aviation businesses, and the vision of becoming the centre for E-commerce businesses and technology hub for aviation.

The Royal Thai Navy as the agency responsible for the Project to develop the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City together with EECO has selected B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited as the company to lease 100 Rai of State land to carry out utilities development system which include the electricity and cooling water systems to accommodate the development of the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City. The electricity will be produced using hybrid power generation system from a cogeneration power plant which sources its raw materials from natural gas and PV Solar Farm, a type of clean energy source in line with the key guiding concepts of the EEC. The total electricity generation capacity is 95 Megawatts equipped with the smart Energy Storage System (ESS) of 50 Megawatt-hours. The system is also prepared to utilise other types of electricity sources should the airport reach its highest level of development and demanding more than 95 megawatts of electricity. The system’s energy security will be further enhanced by the energy storage system with the capacity to store 100 percent of electricity produced. The heat resulted from electricity generation will be converted to the production of chilled water used in the air-conditioning system of the airport, thus moving towards maximum utilisation of energy while reducing any environmental impacts.

Moreover, the hybrid power generation system is able to select efficient or economical sources of power in order to provide electricity with continuity and stability. The energy storage system reduces any damage which may affect electrical devices that are normally in operation for 24 hours. This will also be an efficient and convenient system for passengers of the U-Tapao International Airport .
Mr. Harald Link, Chairman of B.Grimm stated that B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited is delighted to sign the lease agreement of Ratchaphatsadu land to carry out the business of producing electricity and chilled water for the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Development Project which is considered an immensely important project among infrastructure development projects of the EEC. The U-Tapao International Airport will become the new commercial international airport of the future which will contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth. It is our greatest pride and honour for B.Grimm as a Thai company that has contributed to Thailand’s key infrastructure developments over the past 142 years of its business.

BGRIM has been entrusted with this honour by the Royal Thai Navy and the EECO to be responsible for the production of electricity and chilled water for the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Development Project because the Company has expertise in the successful construction, development, and management of power plants in the leading major industrial areas in the provinces under the EEC project. This began in 1995 when the Company started developing a cogeration power plant. Hence BGRIM is fully confident that the Company will be able to utilise its readiness and its experience to develop a new power plant for the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Development Project to its highest ability. The opportunity and honour entrusted on BGRIM will lead to greater capacity to accommodate the increasing demand for quality electricity in this special development area.

Moreover, the Company has been cooperating closely with the world’s leading partners including China Energy Engineering Corporation or Energy China, a top state owned conglomerate speciailising in energy from the People’s Republic of China which provides the hybrid power generation technology for construction, and Korea Electric Power Corporation or KEPCO, a state enterprise and the largest electric utility from the Republic of Korea with expertise in a provision of the Energy Storage System (ESS) technology and the Smart Energy Management System (EMS). The Company also collaborates with Siemens from Germany which provides continued support for Gas & Steam Turbine technology to the project. Such close collaboration guarantees that BGRIM will be able to develop an electricity production and distribution system that is secure, stable, modern and environmental-friendly to the highest efficiency, contributing to the foundation of the key infrastructure systems that will drive the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Development Project to success as envisioned in the Government’s strategies.
Mrs. Preeyanart Soontornwata, President of BGRIM commented that currently the Company is, in all aspects, more than ready to ensure that the work to implement the policy of developing the U-Tapao International Airport can be carried out immediately. The hybrid electricity generation system for the U-Tapao International Airport and the Eastern Airport City Development Project will be ready for Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2024. This power plant is considered a key utilities project that will truly be able to foster energy security for the future for the U-Tapao International Airport and Eastern Airport City Development Project in accordance with the Government’s development policies.

Demystify 5 Cobot Myths

By: Darrell Adams, Head of Southeast Asia & Oceania, Universal Robots
Collaborative Robots (cobots) have emerged to the centerstage in modernising the factory floor. But some myths and misconceptions have emerged, such as displacing human workers and safety risks. Which of the myths are real and which are pure misconceptions?
1. Cobots replace jobs
For a long time now, the message within manufacturing has been that robots steal jobs. However, it is not true in the case of cobots. Cobots actually relieve workers from strenuous and repetitive tasks so that they can take on better, more exciting roles within the company. And, with the cobots helping to increase productivity, companies often find themselves in a position to hire more people, thus creating jobs, not eliminating them.

Only 10 percent of jobs can be fully automated. With cobots, the production rises 50% – without job losses. From 2017-2020, robots will create upwards of 2 million jobs globally, but no machine will ever replace human dexterity, critical thinking, decision-making, and creativity.

2. Robotics automation is for complex, large-scale operations
When most people think of robots, the image of a large, lumbering box used on assembly lines often comes to mind. But the reality is, with the flexibility of cobots, companies can automate even the simplest of tasks. Regardless of the scale of output, cobots can be deployed for processes that are repetitive, manual, or potentially strenuous for workers – such as pick and place, packaging and palletising, screw driving, gluing, dispensing, and welding.

The BAI Lear Automotive System in Beijing specialises in the design and manufacturing of car seat systems, producing 1,500 sets of seats and tightening 6,000 screws a day. For a facility that has such high throughput, downtime is unacceptable. The company decided to search for an efficient and flexible automation solution that would reduce the time for workers to be acquainted with new equipment and reduce potential delays to production.

After an evaluation, BAI Lear deemed cobots would be more suitable than industrial robots, given the tight spaces in its workshops, the high costs of traditional industrial robots and their low flexibility to adapt to future needs. Eventually, BAI Lear deployed 38 Universal Robots (UR) cobots. The workers found the UR cobots easy to configure, user-friendly, cost effective, and reliable, greatly shortening the integration and commissioning cycle, and reducing deployment risks.

3. It's a hassle to implement and maintain robots
It is true that some robots are large, cumbersome, and difficult to operate. One might say they practically require a PhD to run them. But not cobots. Cobots are easy to implement, operate, and maintain. And, because cobots are so compact and lightweight, there is no need to change the production layout when switching the cobot between tasks. They are easily programmed or re-deployed and require minimal maintenance.

4. Cobots are dangerous
With traditional industrial robots, it is impossible to work with them side-by-side without some serious safety concerns. These traditional robots can handle heavier, larger materials and require safety sages to keep humans out of the workspaces.

Cobots are different from traditional industrial robots. They are created with safety in mind, reducing safety risks for workers. Specifically designed to work in conjunction with human workers, they perform best as a minimally disruptive solution to safety concerns. Given their built-in safety functions, cobots and individuals can work in tandem without needing cages (subject to assessment).

One company that relies heavily on the ability to work closely with cobots is PLC Industries in Singapore. PLC Industries places employee safety as a top priority, since workers need to work in close proximity of the robots. The company wanted to ensure that the robots were able to operate efficiently and safely within confined spaces. After extensive evaluation, PLC Industries determined that the Universal Robots' UR10 cobots meet such requirements, with no need for safety guarding.

“Seeing my colleagues being totally at ease working alongside the robots is very encouraging. Being able to work without fear is a definite plus for all of us. The improved focus that everyone now posseses comes from lower fatigue and higher concentration levels. This significantly reduces the chance of an accident from occurring”, says Yeo Hock Lee, Engineering Manager, PLC Industries.

5. Cobots are costly
There is some truth to this myth – robots can be expensive. But that is not true for every kind of robot. For cobots, upfront costs are typically only 20% of traditional robots, with an average payback period as short as six to eight months. Cobots are cost-effective and their installation requires minimal investment, given they do not need major infrastructure changes. And, unlike traditional robots, they can also be redeployed to different functions in the production line and used around-the-clock.

In the age of global challenges such as the pandemic, trade wars, political turmoil, and more, companies need to reduce risks and profit in a sustainable and safe manner. Automation with humanity in mind is not just possible, but sustainable and safe, with the use of collaborative robots or cobots humming along with humans. The age of robots is here to stay, for the better of us all.

Marine Department and NSTDA Inked New Partnership with Leading Private Organizations: “BanpuNext” and “Sakun C” to Develop Thailand’s First e-Ferryfor Travel
Raising the bar for electric boat production, ready to drive industry’s growth & sustainability
Bangkok - Four parties from the public and private sectors, including the Marine Department, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Banpu Next Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Banpu  PCL., and Sakun C Innovation Co., Ltd., joined hands to sign an MoU in “Design development, production and standardization of quality electric ferries (e-Ferry) for the safety of water transportation and the promotion of maritime commerce.” The MoU highlights objectives to raise the production standards of electric ferries while increasing competitiveness at the national and international levels, which will lead to sustainable growth of the industry, as well as encourage all sectors to recognize the importance of using clean energy in the industrial and business sectors. The agreement especially aims to promote the use of e-Ferries in tourism which will not only help save the energy, but also reduce water and air pollution in the long term. By using efficient water vessels, it will help return sustainability to the aquatic ecosystem, as well as offering a better quality of life for people in the community and tourists. Thailand’s first e-Ferry for travel under the new partnership is scheduled to launch officially within this year, serving as a fast, convenient and environmentally-friendly travel option.
Mr. Withaya Yamoung, Director-General of the Marine Department, shared his view, “The Marine Department is the primary government agency to supervise and promote the development of safe, efficient water transportation systems and maritime commerce. In accordance with international standards, our mission is to push forward the aquatic and maritime interconnection with other public transit systems in order to promote convenience, speed, safety and better coverage of intercity travel for the people. Our department strives to ensure the standards and provides direction guidance for the e-Ferry development in Thailand. Under our consultancy, private sectors can benefit from the commercial extension of business, ranging from using modern assembly technology in compliance with government standards, jointly developing and transferring knowledge of electric technology systems, to reviewing the criteria, terms, conditions, and laws for the inspection of electric vessels in accordance with utilized modern technology. Therefore, this collaboration in the development and production of Thailand’s first electric ferries for travel is a crucial step to improve the standards of the country’s water transportation systems and maritime commerce.”
Dr. Julathep Kajornchaiyakul, Executive Director of National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), revealed, “NSTDA has been engaging in the activities regarding electric vehicles for over 10 years.  We pioneered the development of battery technology with component systems, such as the BMS cooling systems. Recently, the government cabinet has approved to establish the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) to be the research entity with direct responsibilities in this field. Meanwhile, NSTDA continues the research and development of motor with control systems in order to identify new motor technologies that are suitable for domestic production. We also integrated cutting-edge technology, such as IoT, smart systems, and various design and structure analysis systems for electric vehicles focusing on lightweight to save the energy and increase safety. NSTDA is equipped with a research and service team with expertise in the development of standards, assessment, and product certifications. Our team of experts also has hands-on experience working with government agencies and in many fields of industry, such as standard formulations relating to electric vehicles, and IoT technology, such as socket-outlet standards and charging stations, etc. NSTDA will bring these strengths together to promote the operations under this partnership in order to create a sustainable development of the e-Ferry industry in Thailand.”
Mrs. Somruedee Chaimongkol, Chief Executive Officer of Banpu PCL. and Banpu Next Co., Ltd., revealed that “BanpuNext, a subsidiary of Banpu , as a leading smart clean energy solution provider in Asia-Pacific, continues to underline the Greener & Smarter strategy of Banpu by bringing together innovation, knowledge and expertise to support the development and production of the first e-Ferry for travel in Thailand. With regards to our e-Ferry development strategy, we’ve integrated a variety of energy technology solutions, utilizing both hardware and software in the production development, including high-capacity lithium-ion battery (LiB) - a prominent business of Durapower Holdings Pte Ltd—a joint-investment with BanpuNext, developed especially for the usage of e-Ferries. Moreover, the company has embarked on the procurement for e-Ferry charging stations. At the same time, we make sure to equip these stations with cutting-edge software technology, such as the Energy Management System (EMS) for energy storage control, charging and regulation of appropriate usage capacities. This enabled us to analyze the data in order to plan the preventive maintenance for the e-Ferries to always be ready and work with full efficiency. We believe that this joint partnership will help improve water transportation, promote the use of clean energy vehicles with high efficiency, help reduce environmental pollution, as well as create a better quality of life for people in the community, society and tourists.”
Mr. Namchai Sakunchoknamchai, President of Sakun C Innovation Co., Ltd., further explained, “Sakun C has been jointly studying the feasibility of electric ferries alongside NSTDA for many years. The vessels that we had successfully developed can directly support the installation of electric systems. However, there are limitations in many aspects as well as other components such as the electric systems that still cannot respond to the market. Furthermore, there are still issues about the battery usage, the confidence in spending, the warranty, the charging systems, the price range that is negotiables in business, the unclear rules and regulations, and the lack of technical professionals who are knowledgeable about the inspections and operations of the ships. Most importantly, there has been no organizations which can provide clear answers to these issues. Eventually, after we collaborated with BanpuNext, a leading smart clean energy company with robust policies and directions to create a sustainable development of alternative energy, we capped on their professionalism to answer these battery technology issues with the Energy Management System (EMS) and the charging system, as well as the warranty issues. We also had a meeting with the Director-General of the Marine Department regarding the production and registration of the e-Ferries, in which, he has provided great advice and assistance in calling meetings of all relevant parties in order to plan and improve the systems, as well as to develop human resources and work models in lined with current technology. Apart from this, we have invited NSTDA to share knowledge about all aspects of electric systems. This e-Ferry project jointly developed with BanpuNext has now progressed up to 90% and we are currently undergoing various system tests to ensure utmost confidence. These e-Ferries are not manufactured only for research purposes or for personal use. The vessels are produced for actual commercial purposes for the clients who placed orders to bring them to service in the tourism industry in the Southern Seas of Thailand. Therefore, we need to ensure a stringent and thorough standard testing procedure. We hope that this partnership will yield benefits to the Thai e-Ferry business sector.”

In this new digital era, using websites and applications through mobile devices have become a daily ritual. Two-thirds of the population are already communicating through their mobile devices. A study from the World Economic Forum shows that 60% of the GDP globally will shift into the digital market by 2022, and Therefore, any businesses or corporations that are not accessing the digital market right now are at risk of being behind trends, and thus risk losing all their market shares permanently. The recent pandemic has increased the number of online-shoppers through both websites and applications to 32%, and streaming media to 42% as a result of people staying home and social distancing.

However, not all websites and applications are able to successfully retain users. A study found out that 53% of users are unhappy with their online experiences and consumers feel brands fail to meet their standards for user experience. In addition to that, statistics show that 88% of online shoppers said that they wouldn’t return to a website or application after having a bad user experience. It is evident from this that there is a significance to having a strong UX Strategy and plan to achieve business goals. By designing UX/UI that solve solutions that are user friendly, we are able to generate a continuous flow of users which helps generate revenue in the long-term.
Jeremie Tisseau, CEO of Morphosis Apps (Morphos.is) - a leading digital consultancy specializing in UX Strategy, product design and development - mentioned the importance of building a good user experience for every platform is crucial and should not be ignored, as planning a UX strategy is the core of building any platform.

“According to research, it is stated that websites and applications that are difficult to navigate create bad user experience and bad impression to reuse it. We are focused and aimed in developing a platform that has a strong UX strategy to provide the best user experience. Our team has over 15 years of experience in designing websites and applications. The latest design trend has been contextual design, meaning designing all content based on the user's behaviors to filter all curated content to display to them. Morphosis Apps provides a service of digital consultancy by covering end-to-end service. From gathering user insights to complete UX strategy planning and related design, to implement a launch to the market that is relevant to the new generation’s behaviors. Capitalizing on strong user experience products, Morphosis Apps has grown 3 times in the last year, and currently holds 5% of UX/UI market share in Thailand. Our clients include local businesses and international corporations such as  Agoda, SCB, Bangkok Hospital, Bumrungrad, BBC, FoodPanda, Manulife, TopGear and BCG“
Tisseau also adds that Thailand has one of the highest online activities globally. There are approximately 500 agencies or companies that provide a service of software and platform development, raising the market size up to 100-200 billion THB. Brands are competing to build the best user experience for their own target users, in order to build their brand reputation. This includes big corporations that have started to build internal software to automate workflow. Cloud Technology is another trend that has asserted more and more impact due to its convenience and accessibility. This essentially generates more opportunities in software development.

RS Group gets COOLISM on a rocket to create a new S curve and unveils the 3-river strategy to boost the growth

Around 5-6 years in retrospect, marketing and advertising professionals would say that “radio is dying.” This is because the disruption trend is replacing many a radio station. A handful of surviving radio stations is facing a decline in revenue. Amid the crisis, the radio and television business under RS Group, thanks to its robust Entertainmerce strategy, is thriving in contrast with the declining trend of the traditional media. Moreover, since Channel 8 launched the 4-legged chair strategy, the business has witnessed the most substantial success. Just recently, RS Group has declared to upgrade this coolness in hopes to reach the new S curve in celebration of the 15th anniversary of COOLISM by combining the highlights and strengths of RS Group’s subsidiaries to achieve the harmonious, powerful, and sustainable synergy.
Mr. Surachai Chetchotisak, Chief Executive Officer of RS Group, said, “COOLfahrenheit, a subsidiary of RS Group, has been rated the number one music station for over two decades. Even in the digital disruption era, the rating and audience of COOLfahrenheit are constantly increasing, hitting new highs on the radio station. The number of audiences has exceeded two million in May 2020. RS Group sees the golden opportunity of the COOLfahrenehit community with more than 3.8 audiences. We understand their lifestyle very well. Also, listening media fills the need for lazy marketing and behavior of the current generation. So, this type of media can blend in their lifestyle seamlessly. We do business upon the actual advantage and, thus, launch the “3-river strategy” where COOLISM is comparable to the ocean that receives the continuous current of incoming water.”
The 3-river strategy classifies incomes into three sources and minimizes dependence on a particular source. This will keep the business risk at a minimum. It is believed that this strategy will push COOLISM to reach the new S curve, driving the station to a high leap, uninterrupted and sustainable growth.
River 1: COOLfahrenheit is the number one radio station for over 15 years. The audience bases are on COOLISM application and www.coolism.net. COOLfahrenehit is a living proof that the radio business, in general, might have been dead, but the quality music station never perishes, but instead holds a firm ground to attract more and more audiences.
River 2: COOLive upgrades the concert and event businesses. COOLive has been trusted by concertgoers and sponsors to host major concert events and music festivals.
River 3: COOLanything operates the commerce business that turns audiences into customers. COOLanything creates a good experience in shopping by offering the products and services that satisfy customers’ need through the COOLISM application. This is the modern upstream platform for online shopping that hits the popular trend.
Mr.Prinn Muensuksaeng, Head of COOLISM, explained that “at COOLfahrenheit as the first river, we aim at maintaining the audience base and increasing engagement by producing the right music and lifestyle content and organizing activities to impress the audiences. We link our activities and prizes with the CRM system in the form of COOLdegree. So far, our COOL Js are viewed as the best buddies. Our activities are so carefully selected that customers spread the words of mouth, resulting in more and more fans. Eventually, we are able to attract more sponsorships from other businesses.”
“In the meantime, COOLive has met overwhelmingly positive feedback from audiences and sponsors from RAPTOR and D2B concerts. The past success is attributable to the artists and our exclusive professionalism as the organizer. Promotions of these events were made on COOLfahrenehit, the community of these artists’ fan base along with other media platforms. This year, we are planning to organize KAMIKAZE PARTY 2020 concert. We have received positive feedback even before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, our organizing team is preparing to host the concert with the new normal lifestyle. We believe that when the situation settles, we will be fully prepared to organize the concert.”
“The last one of the 3-river strategy turns audiences into buyers through the platform of COOLanything. On this platform, the audiences can listen to music and shopping online at the same time on COOLISM application. In the early phase, the Company aims at members of our community because we know how to choose the products that suit their likes and lifestyles.”
Mr. Surachai added at the end, saying “in the 3-river strategy, the incomes are from each river almost equally, namely COOLfahrenheit 35%, COOLive 30%, and COOLanything 35%. This business model is expected to establish the substantial growth to COOLism by the end of this year and drives the radio business into a new S curve by 2021.

    Huracán EVO RWD Spyder
Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s new V10 model provides drivers with an open-air celebration of lightweight engineering, with rear-wheel drive and a specially tuned Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS). Roof up or down, daily driving and high-performance fun are accompanied by the inimitable sound of the V10 aspirated power plant, delivering the same 610 hp (449 kW) and 560 Nm of torque as the coupé version. With a 0-100 km/h acceleration of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 324 km/h, like its coupé stablemate the Spyder is an instinctive driver’s car, delivering a fun-to-drive experience via hardware rather than software.
The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s design optimizes the integration and function of the extremely lightweight soft top. The Spyder is a true Lamborghini with roof open and closed, sporting inimitable lines from every profile that confirm it is as dynamic in both looks and performance whether roof on or off. The Spyder’s exterior lines ensure drag reduction and downforce matches that of the coupé without requiring additional aerodynamic appendages, while enhancing the rear-wheel drive car’s balance and dynamism with roof both up and down.
Driving fun in the open air
The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is specially engineered as an instinctive driver’s car, still producing top performance figures but focused on the pilot’s skills and the set-up of the rear-wheel drive powertrain, providing unfiltered physical feedback and maximum engagement. The specially tuned P-TCS traction control system is designed for adrenalin-producing performance in all conditions, consistently delivering torque and assuring traction even as the Spyder is realigning after sharp cornering or drifting. Especially with the roof down, the driver’s senses are further aroused by the sound of the V10 aspirated engine responding to the throttle during maneuvers.
The Huracán EVO Spyder’s ANIMA button on the steering wheel puts the pilot in control of driving modes, with the P-TCS calibrated to suit. STRADA provides stability and safety in all conditions by minimizing rear-wheel slippage, and more proactively managing torque delivery on low-adhesion surfaces. In SPORT mode, the driver enjoys drifting fun, allowing the rear wheels to slide and skate during acceleration, with torque limited when oversteer angles increase rapidly so the driver can stabilize and control the car. CORSA mode optimizes the car’s traction and agility when exiting a corner in high-performance conditions, maximizing dynamics and speed.
The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s aluminum and thermoplastic resin body sits on a lightweight hybrid chassis in aluminum and carbon fiber, with a dry weight of 1,509 kg and a weight-to-power ratio of 2.47 kg/hp. Front/rear weight distribution of 40/60, with double wishbone suspension with overlapped quadrilaterals and passive shock absorbers, providing optimized driver feedback. Ventilated and cross-drilled steel brakes are fitted to 19” Kari rims with specially-developed Pirelli P Zero tires, with optional 20” rims and carbon ceramic brakes.
    Designed for life
The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder continues the V10 Lamborghini’s powerful design with new front and rear features, clearly differentiating it from its Huracán EVO 4WD Spyder stablemate.Characterized by a new front splitter and vertical fins within the larger, framed front air intakes characterize, the rear bumper in high gloss black incorporates a new diffuser unique to the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder.
The Spyder’s soft-top roof stows within 17 seconds under the rear hood, even while driving up to a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). In a range of color options, the soft-top perfectly complements the rear-wheel drive car’s body lines and color options, while ensuring a quiet cockpit for easy conversation and entertainment with roof up or down. With soft top both up and down the driver can also electronically open the rear window, which functions as a windshield when up and highlights the V10 engine’s unique sound when down. Two removable lateral wind shields dampen lateral aerodynamic noise in the cabin, permitting conversations even at high speeds.
An HMI 8.4” touchscreen in the Spyder’s center console controls the car’s functions as well as providing comprehensive connectivity for telephone calls, internet access and Apple CarPlay.
The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is a driver’s car and a lifestyle choice, complemented by virtually limitless colour and trim options through Lamborghini Ad Personam, allowing owners to personalize their car to their exacting tastes. Price of Huracán EVO RWD Spyder starts from 21,800,000 THB.
    Aventador SVJ Roadster
The open top version of the coupé, the Aventador SVJ Roadster upholds the exceptional performance, handling and aerodynamic superiority of the SVJ, with its unique roadster design granting an exclusive open air exhilaration to both driver and passenger.

The SVJ Roadster benchmark performance comes from the most powerful series production V12-engined car produced to date by Lamborghini, outputting 770 hp (566 kW) at maximum 8,500 rpm. The SVJ Roadster delivers 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, with a weight-to-power ratio of 2.05 kg/hp. The SVJ accelerates from standing to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.8 seconds.  A top speed of more than 350 km/h is complemented by a braking distance of 100 km/h to 0 in 31 meters.
The SVJ Roadster sports the Aventador SVJ's design purity, inspired by super-fast, super-athletic, aeronautical references such as space ships and jet fighters as well as race motorbikes. The Roadster's lines, with roof on or off, clearly identify its aerodynamic design and superiority, delivered by the latest 2.0 version of ALA: Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva, Lamborghini's patented active aerodynamics system.
The ALA system actively varies aero load to achieve high downforce or low drag, depending on dynamic conditions using electronically-actuated motors positioned in the front splitter and the rear wing. Using Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva 2.0 (LDVA 2.0), dedicated algorithms supported by an improved inertial sensor platform govern all the car's electronic systems in real time, activating the ALA system flaps in less than 500 milliseconds to ensure the best aerodynamic set-up of the car in every driving condition. When ALA is off, the active flaps are closed and the rear wing, produced entirely in carbon fiber, acts as a traditional fixed wing, generating maximum downforce for high speed cornering and full brake conditions. When ALA switches to 'on' the flaps are opened, reducing air pressure on the front spoiler and directing air flow via an inner channel and through the specially-shaped vortex generators on the underside of the car. Flaps in the central pylon also open to stall the rear wing, all drastically reducing drag and optimizing conditions for maximum acceleration and top speed.
The roadster roof, constructed from high pressure RTM carbon fiber, is removable via quick-release levers in the cabin, and securely stored under the front hood. Weighing less than 6 kg each part, the roadster adds only 50 kg to the SVJ coupé's weight of 1,525 kg.
Large side air intakes and front side fins increase airflow, aid cooling and reduce drag. Airflow over the roof is uninterrupted whether roof is on or off, and the overall result is an improvement by 40% of the total downforce compared to the Aventador SV Roadster version. Just 800 units will be produced of the Aventador SVJ Roadster. Price of Aventador SVJ Roadster starts from 48,980,000 THB.

A new 8.4” HMI capacitive touchscreen, located in the centre console just above the start button, puts connectivity at the driver’s fingertips, with multi-finger gesture control. Governing car functions including seats, climate and the status of the LDVI system in real-time it also puts all infotainment, such as Apple CarPlay with smartphone integration, at the cabin occupants’ disposal. A multimedia system incorporates connected navigation and entertainment including web radio and video player. The intuitive interface allows voice commands and puts the driver in touch with Siri.
    Urus
Lamborghini Urus features a 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 650 hp (478 kW) at 6,000 rpm, maximum 6,800 rpm, and 850 Nm of maximum torque already at 2,250 rpm. Haier achieves 31% growth in first half of 2020, prepares to expand smart home appliances business to satisfy new-normal consumers

    $

Bangkok 17 July 2020 – Haier, the world’s No. 1 home appliances brand for 11 consecutive years, has met the 31% sales growth target in Thailand in the first half of 2020. It is expanding presence in the smart home market with various products including air-conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines, along with the Smart Sharing AC campaign to meet the demand in the home appliances market amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The company aims for a 34% growth in the latter half, in sales worth about 2.63 billion baht.

The Covid-19 pandemic has dramatically changed consumer behavior. Consumers now have new expectations from brands and mainly consider prices and quality before making purchases. This challenge has driven Haier to adjust to the situation while planning ahead for the unexpected, resulting in its proactive business approach to suit the new normal.

At today’s Haier Press Conference 2020, Mr.Zhang Zhenghui, President of Haier Electrical Appliances (Thailand), said: “Haier expects continuous success this year, with estimated total sales revenue of 6.205 billion baht, up 38% from 2019. This total revenue comprises 2.94 billion baht from home air-conditioners, up 21% from last year; 1.16 billion baht from refrigerators, up 45%; 835 million baht from washing machines, up 37%; 590 million baht from freezers, up 41%; 365 million baht from commercial air-conditioners, up 45%; and 322 million baht from other products, up 65%. We will further extend our market share actively in the latter half of this year to achieve our annual sales target.”
As part of the marketing strategy for the second half of 2020, Haier will continuously introduce new products with strengths in quality, design, innovation and unique functionality in order to meet diverse consumers’ needs. It also provides cutting-edge products in the Haier Smart Home range for modern lifestyles. A marketing budget of 170 million baht is earmarked for boosting brand awareness and sales both through online and off-line channels, as well as increasing marketing channels, penetrating the B2B segment, revamping distributors’ shops, and improving pre- and post-sales services.
“Despite the coronavirus impact on consumers’ purchasing power, Haier still enjoys continued sales growth, especially for air-conditioners and refrigerators. I think it is highly possible that we can reach the annual sales growth of 38% to a revenue of 6.205 billion baht this year,” Mr Zhang said.
For the air-conditioner category, Haier previously introduced the Smart Sharing AC campaign providing air-conditioners for homes with usage charge of four baht per hour, free installation service and post-sale service. If the air-conditioner is used for 5,200 hours within three years, the user will get to own it for free. The campaign utilises Advanced Info Service (AIS)’s NB-IoT technology which automatically connects the air-conditioners to the NB-IoT network nationwide without the need for Wi-Fi connection or SIM cards, and usage data will be recorded and sent to the Smart Sharing AC mobile app, allowing users to control and check on their air-conditioners from anywhere through a smartphone. They can change settings, power on/off, adjust wind direction and temperature, as well as ask for maintenance service through the app.
Haier has developed the Self-Cleaning technology for air-conditioners, enabling them to self-clean within 20 minutes, and the Self-Purifying technology using the IFD filter capable of filtering 99.99% of dust as tiny as 0.3 micron which is eight times smaller than the PM2.5 particles. In 2020, Haier has stepped up its innovation with the development of the Self-Hygiene technology, using silver nanoparticles coating to protect air-conditioners from bacteria and fungi, and the Hyper PCB electronic board to protect against unstable power stream, humidity and certain insects, making air-conditioners more durable and energy-saving.
The company has also unveiled the HRF-MD758 smart refrigerator in the IOT Smart Series, featuring a large touchscreen interface, voice-controlled virtual assistant, and Food Manage function for food listing and management. Inside the refrigerator there is the Ultra Cam to enable stock checking via the screen or smartphone. Users can also order food from online groceries while being entertained by YouTube and Facebook, and cooking will be never be boring again thanks to the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
There was also the Ice Bar or living room refrigerator LC-132 which is elegantly designed and made of premium materials. Its top shelf is for wine storage, made of beech wood to reduce vibration and maintain the true taste of wine. The middle shelf is for raw food ingredients. There is a drawer with the Humidity Control System (HDC) for vegetables and fruit, and an independent enclosed space called Multi-Zone with three adjustable temperature levels: 4°C for breast milk, 5°C for dried tea leaves, and 0°C for drinks.
Also introduced was the Self-Cleaning top-loading washing machine equipped with the Smart Ball technology capable of removing 99.9% of dirt and impurities in every wash; the Direct Motion motor delivering quiet, smooth and energy-saving operation; and a control panel at the top back for convenient use. Sporting an elegant design, the Self-Cleaning washing machine comes with optional 13-kilogram or 14-kilogram drum capacity, available from July 2020 onwards.
Another new product was the Android Smart AI TV which can be connected to security system devices such as surveillance camera and doorbell, and is able to control the power system.
“For the remaining months of 2020, Haier will focus on integrated marketing approach covering both online and off-line. This includes launching more TV commercial for our refrigerators, continuous brand awareness promotion through our brand ambassador, enhancing positive brand image through Haier Brand Shops now located in Bangkok and Khon Kaen, expanding sales channels and B2B opportunities, renovating our distributor shops and seeking new marketing opportunities, to enable Haier’s business to keep growing,” said Mr Zhang.
