Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with alliances in from the public and private sectors, presents the launch of the new WE LOVE LOCAL campaign to support tourism in local Thai communities around the country. The project has been designed to cater to various demands of the corporate market in Thailand and abroad. Our guests of honor include 10 CEOs from different organizations who’ll be helping to present the CEO LOVE LOCAL campaign promoting 10 collections of local communities.
Mr. Noppadon Pakprot TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that “travelling to communities, or the “going local experience”, is a popular tourism trend all around the world right now, including in Thailand.” These trips aren’t limited to solo travelers or independent tourists either, with more and more companies and organizations becoming interested in taking part in the range of fun, educational activities available at these new destinations, especially in lesser-known areas of Thailand.  This increasing desire for “local experiences” in the corporate market is an excellent sign for local community tourism because the corporate market has greater purchasing power, as well as fewer limitations in terms of the seasons to travel compared with other markets. However, as the size and dynamics of each company differs, so do their demands and interests regarding corporate trips. Therefore, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s new WE LOVE LOCAL campaign provides both variety and flexibility for this particular market, with 50 local communities to choose from. These destinations have all been categorized in terms of their unique characteristics, identities and main tourist activities, making the difficult task of corporate tourism planning for organizations much easier – and rewarding. This year, we have created 10 collections comprising 50 communities, which consist of;

  1. The King’s Wisdom community collection
  2. GI product community collection (GI -Geographical Indications )
  3. Cultural community collection
  4. Highlander community collection
  5. Agro-tourism community collection
  6. Thai fabric community collection
  7. Gastronomic community collection
  8. Eco adventure community collection
  9. Homestay travel community collection
  10. School and family outing community collection
Apart from these 10 community collections, the event also offers travel packages to local destinations from some of the county’s leading local tourism companies, such as Local Alike, Siam Rise Travel, Friday Trip, Tour Merng Tai, TKT Ecotour, RSP Jumbo Travel & Events, and Satun CPS Travel, with over 20 packages and special offers from Nok Air, Avis Car Rental as well as hotel deals from traveligo.com. These local collaborations will provide discounts for corporate organizations planning to travel to any of the featured local communities this year.
Companies and organizations that are interested in participating in any activity in one of the local communities can find more information at www.weLoveLocal.travel.
The Deputy Governor also announced that the launch of the CEO LOVE LOCAL campaign aims to further boost the trend and inspire corporate groups to travel to local communities. The CEO LOVE LOCAL campaign features honorable CEOs from organizations from both the public and private sectors as presenters to promote communities from each collection.

  1. Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn , Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand to promote The King’s philosophy communities.
  2. Mr. Thosapone Dansuputra, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce to promote GI product communities.
  3. Mrs. Kessuda Raiva, CEO of S&P Syndicate Public Company Limited to promote agro-tourism communities.
  4. Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, CEO of Dusit Thani Groups Public Company Limited to promote highlander communities.
  5. Mr. Piya Yodmani, Former CEO of Nok Airlines Public Company Limited to promote cultural communities
  6. Mr. Vana Bulbon, CEO of UOB Asset Management (Thailand) Public Company Limited to promote Thai fabrics communities
  7. Mr. Chih – Hung Lin, Director and COO of KGI Securities (Thailand) Public Company Limited to promote gastronomic communities.
  8. Mr.Apisilp Trunganont, Co-founder and CTO of pantip.com to promote eco adventure communities.
  9. Mr.Yod Chinsupakkul, Executive Director and one of the founders of wongnai.com to promote homestay communities.
  10. Ms. Pimpat Yomnak, Board Member of Bangkok Prep International School to promote school & family communities.
The Deputy Governor, concluded that we are confident that the WE LOVE LOCAL campaign will allow corporate groups to learn more in-depth about the local communities, and encourage corporate groups to ignite new ideas to host more activities and trips at the local communities in Thailand. We aim for the WE LOVE LOCAL campaign to generate 1 Million Baht in revenue for each community within 1 year after the campaign is launched. The Tourism Authority of Thailand invites all interested companies and organizations to join this event to create more opportunities, stimulate the economy, and distribute more wealth and income to the communities in order to make them stronger and sustainable on their own.
If any staff member from the Human Resources or Corporate Social Responsibility department of any organization is interested in planning an activity in any of the WE LOVE LOCAL communities and would like to take a survey trip to the actual destination, then please register with the campaign at welovelocal.corporate@gmail.com  to receive a discount voucher of 1,000 baht. To top the opening event, ASICS is introducing the latest highlight product ‘ASICS GEL-KAYANO 25.’ Launching under ‘THE BLACK OUT TRACK’ concept, the GEL-KAYANO 25 delivers the never-before running in the darkness experience on a black light-lit track to runners and influencers – so they get to experience the synchronization of mind, body, and shoes.
Mr. Warodom Pranbunpook, Country General Manager of ASICS (Thailand) Co.Ltd., stated that Thailand is regarded as Asia’s highest potential market for both its selling growth rate and the increasing number of target consumers owing to the current healthy trends. In response to the growing athletic needs, the company has recently opened a new store at Central World as the 7th store with an area of 151.6 sq.m. Despite its strategic location, as well as its being the shopping landmark for Thai and foreigners at the heart of Bangkok, the store’s interior maintains the Japanese concept of unique harmonious and simple design – the product displays allowing customers to try products at their utmost convenience. Moving forward, the company plans to open a total of 10 stores by 2018.

ASICS BLACKOUT TRACK
A smaller and shareable experience conceived from the earlier “ASICS Blackout Track” event that happened in June, this concept is exclusively designed for ASICS fans to experience the concept of running in the darkness with no tech, no music, no scenery, no comforts and no finish line. Thailand set to become Asia’s center of the TWO-WHEELES industry

The state and private sectors have inked an agreement to upgrade Thailand’s two-wheels and electric-vehicle industries into becoming Asian hubs, organizing the B2B trade show TWO WHEELS ASIA 2019 on May 23-25, 2019 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center.
Mrs. Ladda Mongkolchaiwiwat, Managing Director of Global Exhibitions and Convention Services (GECS), the leading exhibition organizer in the CLMVT bloc (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand), disclosed that the two-wheels and electric-vehicle industries in Asia have witnessed burgeoning growth due to city traffic congestion, urban expansion and pollution. This has led to the popularity of two wheels, electric motorcycles, scooters, electric scooters, bicycles and electric bicycles. These modes of transport have enjoyed solid growth, especially on the continent.
In 2017, global exports of motorcycles were worth more than US$24.1 billion. Thailand is the world’s 4th biggest exporter of motorcycles, with the export value being over $1.5 billion. China, the world’s No. 1, exported motorcycles worth $6.7 billion, followed by Japan – $2.8 billion – and Germany, $2.2 billion. Looking at major markets, Asia alone accounted for a massive 60% of the world’s motorcycle market.
In 2018, global motorcycle production is expected to reach 132.4 million units, surging 4.6% with a value worth more than $1.1 billion. The majority of motorcycle users are in China, India and the CLMVT bloc. Hybrid motorcycles, electric motorcycles and scooters are playing an integral role in driving market growth.

Electric scooters, especially, are expected to ride away with more than 85% of Asian market share worth up to $19 billion by the year 2025 – growing at an average rate of 6.9%. The reasons behind this robust growth are consumers’ desire to cut transport costs, reduce maintenance expenses and possess increasing awareness of environmental conservation. Most important is the rising trend of electric scooters, which are being used as the main vehicles in delivering ready-to-eat food in Asia.
In Thailand, 15% of all motorcycles produced are exported. Mopeds and low-output motorcycles have seen sales going downhill by 5-6% per year, while big, powerful motorcycles for sports and racing have witnessed continuous growth of 4-5% per year. Thailand’s production of motorcycles for export has transformed from completely built-up (CBU) units to completely knocked-down (CKD) ones.

The global motorcycle market in the next five years is estimated to be worth $62 billion and experience an average growth rate of 37%. Electric bicycles are also expected to drive growth of the world’s bicycle market, grabbing a market share of 38%, with value of $25 billion, by 2024.
As for Thailand, the kingdom’s bicycle market is expected to see a drop in value to THB5 billion-5.5 billion, with imports reaching 80% of total bicycles in the country. The rest – 20% – is local production for export to European countries. Thai importers of bicycles and producers who have developed their own brands are beginning to look for new distribution channels, focusing on CLMV markets, especially Vietnam, and taking advantage of distribution zones and distribution rights to sell their products.
Business owners are grabbing opportunities in marketing two wheels and electric vehicles in CLMVT countries, which have a combined population of more than 240 million, being high-potential markets that can drive the growth of several industries. The bloc has companies, enterprises and business organizations which have built up expertise and experience over a long period.
TWO WHEELS ASIA 2019, is organized by Global Exhibitions and Convention Services Co., Ltd. Of Thailand, and Avanza Co., Ltd. of Taiwan in association with The Thailand Walking and Cycling Institute Foundation, the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, the State Railway of Thailand, PEA ENCOM International (a subsidiary of the Provincial Electricity Authority), Bicycle United Magazine Asia and Cycling Malaysia Magazine to help upgrade Thai production and export of two wheels and electric vehicles such as motorcycles, electric motorcycles, scooters and electric scooters, bicycles and electric bicycles, as well as accessories, parts, repairs and maintenance services in order to steer Thailand into becoming Asia’s industry hub.
The event also promotes the use of two wheels and electric vehicles in the region. Furthermore, to reaffirm confidence in business owners and businesses, a ceremony was held to sign an agreement to upgrade the two-wheeler and electric-vehicle industry of Asia.
TWO WHEELS ASIA 2019, is expected to attract 150 companies exhibiting their products and services from May 23-25 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center. As many as 7,000 visitors from across the globe are also expected to attend. The event will generate more than an estimated THB3 billion in income.
In conjunction with this top event will be international seminars organized by The Thailand Walking and Cycling Institute Foundation, which is a member of the European Cycling Federation. The interesting topics include “Sustainable Development Goals & Sustainable Transport in Asia and Thailand”, “I am not a SUPERHERO, But I Can SAVE LIVES”, and “Stop Global Warming”.

  • This is the first time that the concession grantor and concession grantee reach a formal partnership to settle tower disputes and lease towers and equipment for the benefit of both parties, in addition to generating revenue to the government.
  • dtac will rent 8,815 telecom towers nationwide from CAT, including related network equipment.
  • The agreements mark the start of a new strategic partnership and continued friendship between the two companies.
September 14, 2018 – CAT Telecom Public Company Limited, Total Access Communication PLC., and dtac TriNet Company Limited have signed a service agreement for long-term use of telecom towers and concession network equipment. It benefits all parties, as dtac has now secured the ability to provide its customers with continued service after the end of concession, while CAT can expand its business for new revenue generation.
Ms. Alexandra Reich, Chief Executive Officer, Total Access Communication PLC. or dtac said, “The agreement is an exciting first for the Thai telecom industry and a great benefit to our customers as the contracts between dtac and CAT have been signed before the concession expiry. From now on, both parties will be strategic partners to drive the Thai telecom industry forward. These two agreements bring clarity on the direction of both parties’ business operations in both the near- and long-term future, eliminating any risk of interrupted services. dtac and CAT are now ready to forge ahead with a strong friendship and partnership that provides a sustainable network and infrastructure for the future.”
These historical contract signings between CAT Telecom Public Company Limited, Total Access Communication PLC., and dtac TriNet Company Limited consist of:
1. the tower dispute settlement and tower service agreement.
2. the telecommunication equipment service agreement.

dtac TriNet will pay CAT an advanced service fee of 3.2 billion baht on the signing day.  The combined amount of the annual service fee, payable monthly, from the two agreements will be approximately 3 billion Thai Baht annually for a period of 8 years, with a renewal option.
Ms. Reich said, “dtac customers can be confident they will enjoy smooth services after the expiry of the concession. The friendship between CAT and dtac yields the most possible benefits to customers and the Thai telecom industry during this transition period.”
Colonel Sanpachai Huvanandana, President of CAT Telecom Public Company Limited said, “These contract signings represent the first time that the facility owner and concessionaire establish a long-term strategic partnership. CAT has been aiming to develop the country’s network and the infrastructure, as well as the related business, to be modernized and effective, leading to the holistic development of the country’s economy, society, people, and national security. This is also the first time in Thailand that the facility owner ends all disputes over the telecom towers and becomes a strategic partner with the concessionaire.”
These contracts also allow the full utilization of telecom towers, which are the infrastructure for the nation’s crucial mobile network, and their related equipment. Without the agreements, they might be abandoned.
“This collaboration allows the business expansion and generates new revenues to CAT. We have been a national leading digital and telecom service provider. Our business is to operate and deliver a variety of telecom services to customers domestically, internationally, and overseas,” said Colonel Sanpachai.

Partnership Expands AEG’s Proven Entertainment District Model to Southeast Asia
Bangkok, Thailand & Los Angeles, US (September 27, 2018) – The Mall Group, Thailand’s leading retail and entertainment complex developer, and AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, today jointly announced a strategic partnership that is destined  to make Thai retail history and will redefine the retail entertainment experience in Bangkok with a 10 billion baht plus investment in two world-class arenas - “EM Live and BANGKOK ARENA” - that will anchor two new entertainment districts.
The Mall Group and AEG are joining forces with the shared vision of revolutionizing the country’s business, retail and entertainment centres, placing Bangkok and Thailand at the forefront of world retail innovation, entertainment events, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) and new lifestyle experiences.
Supaluck Umpujh, Chairwoman of The Mall Group said that the company’s mission and goal is to elevate Bangkok and Thailand to the leading Retail and Entertainment Hub in Asia. Following the company’s success in developing multiple World-Class Shopping and Entertainment Complexes, including Siam Paragon - The World-Class Retail & Entertainment Phenomenon, The Emporium, The EmQuartier and the Upcoming EmSphere - the Luxury & Lifestyle Retail and Entertainment District at the Epicenter of Sukhumvit, The Mall Group is now ready to create new Mega Projects. This will lead the way to even greater success in what it sees as a bold and pioneering step into a new era for retail and entertainment experiences.

EM LIVE at THE EMSPHERE, The Iconic New Retail & Entertainment District, and The BANGKOK ARENA at the BANGKOK MALL, The Grand Metropolis, built on the concept of a City within the City, are scheduled to open by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022.
EM LIVE at THE EMSPHERE will have a capacity of more than 6,000 people and
The BANGKOK ARENA at the BANGKOK MALL will have a capacity of up to 16,000 people.
Adam Wilkes, President and Chief Executive Officer, AEG Asia, said that Southeast Asia is going through a transformation. As incomes rise and spending power increases, consumers in the region are demanding more sophisticated entertainment experiences. In The Mall Group, we have not only found an outstanding partner but also an innovative company that is led by an insightful and forward-thinking leader, Khun Supaluck. The company shares our vision for creating best-in-class destination experiences and our partnership will bring unique entertainment districts to the city that will redefine and revolutionize Bangkok's leisure and entertainment scene. We are thankful to have a long-term partner that shares our vision and goals. These two significant developments will be a game-changer, giving Bangkok and Thailand the opportunity to become the most important Retail and Entertainment Hub in Southeast Asia.

The partnership, which marks AEG’s first major investment in Southeast Asia, expands the company’s proven entertainment district model across the region and demonstrates its strong commitment to Bangkok and Thailand. The announcement also furthers The Mall Group’s goal to continue expanding beyond traditional retail experiences and lead the trend into more immersive lifestyle and entertainment-focused destination experiences.   Over the last decade, Bangkok and Thailand have seen rapid urbanization and changing consumption trends, and today is a market with great potential, driven by an expanding middle-class with growing spending power and demand for premium experiences. Bangkok and Thailand have also been named the world’s most-visited tourism destinations, welcoming more than 38 million international travellers in 2017, with that number expected to reach 42 million international travellers in 2018.

As the co-owner and operator of both entertainment venues, AEG will also be responsible for the management and operation of these two world-class arenas, as well as working collaboratively with The Mall Group and its partners in offering and marketing a wide rangeof events including entertainment, concerts, live performances, family shows, sports competitions, MICE and arts & cultural events. Over the past decade, AEG has brought artists such as Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Metallica, the Rolling Stones and many other world-renowned performers to Asia.

The two premium arenas will enable Bangkok to host large-scale events, offering local and international audiences, and tourists from around the globe, more entertainment choices and greatly enhanced live experiences, further positioning the city as a premier entertainment destination in Southeast Asia.
