The company specializes in developing identity solutions used inbanking, telcoandmedia industries. The investment is part of SCB’s ambition to expand its fintech portfolio to enhance security andidentification, as well as customer engagement

Sansiri confident of Pattaya’s real estate revival Sales to Thais and foreigners rising steadily

Sansiri Public Company Limited is confident of continued demand for holiday homes by Thai and foreign customers in Pattaya as the resort city remains one of the preferred tourist destinations in the country resulting in increased interests among investors in this venerable holiday city. The 2016 overall sales growth over the previous year among Thai and foreign customers in the condominium and single house markets, or the rental market was as much as 80 percent, especially for condominiums.

The most preferred locations are right on the beaches or those with the view of the beaches on the famous Pattaya Beach stretching from North Pattaya to South Pattaya, or on Wong-amat Beach that promotes tranquility and privacy.
(Information from Research & Development Department of Plus Property Co., Ltd. shows the revival rate of the market from 3 percent to 80 percent, from the overall supply of 56,953 units, while the beach-side properties also were found to be selling well, likewise, at about 80 percent on average)
Mr. Uthai Uthaisangsuk, Senior Executive Vice President - Business Development and Project Development Division (High Rise), Sansiri Public Company Limited, elaborated on the information, “The overall market projection for 2017 should be interesting for real estate developers, as the impressive growth trend in Pattaya from 2016 is still gaining momentum. This may be due to the fact that Pattaya is a high-potential seaside resort city that has always been popular among Thais and foreigners although Pattaya tourism has had a setback due to the drop in the number of Russian tourists that used to make up the majority of visitors to Pattaya.
“However, it is notable that the demand for beach-side developments has grown substantially among Thais and foreigners of other nationalities, such as the Chinese whose presence in Pattaya grew by 31 percent. Currently, the Wong-amat location is strongly coming into focus due to its private and tranquil location with as much as 85 percent of the total supply sold in the 95,000-120,000-baht-per-square-metre range. The most popular are the one-bedroom units with floor areas of from 40 to 55 square metres. This is because these mid-size units can accommodate more people and can more readily fulfill the needs of renters.”
Where Sansiri projects are concerned, “THE BASE Central Pattaya”, the condominium under “THE BASE” brand in central Pattaya on the high-potential Pattaya 2 Road, racked up 100-percent sale very quickly in 2013. Since its completion as scheduled in 2016, customers have continuously taken the transfer of ownership – 66 percent of Thai owners and 34 percent of foreign owners. The ratio between own domicile and to release for rent is about 30:70, with the good rental yield of 7 percent and the resale price appreciating by 15-20 percent – a satisfying return for investors.
Meanwhile, the high-end “Baan Plai Had by Sansiri” condominium project shows a sales figure of 95 percent with 80 percent being Thai customers and 20 percent foreigners. The ratio between own domicile and to release for rent is about 60:40. From early in 2017, Sansiri has included both “Baan Plai Had by Sansiri” and “THE BASE Central Pattaya” projects in the “Holiday Homes” campaign to support the demand for holiday homes in the resort city during the high season. The campaign rounds up condominium projects and ready-to-move-in single-house projects in five famous resort cities together. The campaign is receiving great interest among the customers who have the full confidence in Sansiri’s brand and quality.
“We expect that the real estate market in Pattaya will continue to grow, particularly at locations on the beach or those with good sea view. The higher project development cost and the limitations in land availability that would reflect on the cost of investment have resulted in the investment in ready-to-move-in condominiums becoming the holiday homes of choice. Another reason is their good selling prices because of the attractive sales promotion. Another factor is the actual units are ready for inspection before any decision is made – a big contrast to other new projects where uncertainties abound. This is a clear competitive advantage in the real estate business at present,” Mr. Uthai concluded.

Trend Micro 2016 Security Roundup Reveals 752 Percent Increase in Ransomware

DALLAS, April 2017 –Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, today released its annual security roundup report, “2016 Security Roundup: A Record Year for Enterprise Threats,” which proves 2016 was truly the year of online extortion. Cyber threats reached an all-time high in 2016, with ransomware and Business Email Compromise (BEC) scams gaining increased popularity among cybercriminals looking to extort enterprises. A 752 percent increase in new ransomware families ultimately resulted in $1 billion in losses for enterprises worldwide.

Trend Micro and the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) discovered 765 vulnerabilities in 2016. Of these, 678 were brought to ZDI through their bug bounty program, then ZDI verifies and discloses the issue to the affected vendor. Compared to vulnerabilities discovered by Trend Micro and ZDI in 2015, Apple saw a 145 percent increase in vulnerabilities, while Microsoft bugs decreased by 47 percent. Additionally, the use of new vulnerabilities in exploit kits dropped by 71 percent, which is partially due to the arrest of the threat actors behind Angler that took place in June 2016.

“As threats have diversified and grown in sophistication, cybercriminals have moved on from primarily targeting individuals to focusing on where the money is: enterprises,” said Ed Cabrera, chief cybersecurity officer for Trend Micro. “Throughout 2016 we witnessed threat actors extort companies and organizations for the sake of profitability and we don’t anticipate this trend slowing down. This research aims to educate enterprises on the threat tactics actively being used to compromise their data, and help companies adopt strategies to stay one step ahead and protect against potential attacks.” 
Report highlights include:
      • Growth of Ransomware – Throughout the course of 12 months, the number of ransomware families grew from 29 to 247. One leading factor to explain this increase is the profitability of ransomware. Although individuals and organizations are encouraged not to pay the ransom, cybercriminals still managed to rake in roughly $1 billion last year.
      • BEC Scams on the Rise – Much like ransomware, BEC scams proved to be incredibly lucrative for cybercriminals, resulting in an average of $140,000 in losses for companies around the globe. These scams also highlighted the effectiveness of social engineering techniques for threat actors targeting enterprises.
      • A Variety of Vulnerabilities – Trend Micro and the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) discovered a record high number of vulnerabilities in 2016, most of which were found in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Advantech’s WebAccess. Both applications are widely used throughout enterprise and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
      • Angler Exploit’s Exit – Following the arrest of 50 cybercriminals, the once dominant Angler exploit kit slowly faded out of the spotlight until it ceased to exist. While it didn’t take long for new exploit kits to burst onto the scene in Angler’s absence, by the end of 2016, the amount of vulnerabilities included in exploit kits had decreased by 71 percent.
      • Banking Trojans and ATM Malware – Cybercriminals have been using ATM malware, skimming cards and banking Trojans for a while now. However, the attacks have diversified in recent years, giving threat actors access to personally identifiable information (PII) and credentials, which can also be used to gain a foothold inside enterprise networks. 
      • Mirai’s Massive Attack – In October 2016, attackers took advantage of poorly secured IoT devices to issue a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that hijacked approximately 100,000 IoT devices and forced websites such as Twitter, Reddit and Spotify to go offline for several hours.
      • Yahoo’s History Making Data Breach – Yahoo experienced the largest data breach in history in August 2013, compromising 1 billion account users’ information. However, the incident was not disclosed until three months after reports of a separate data breach in September 2016, which involved 500 million more accounts. These events stirred up the responsible disclosure conversation and the accountability companies have to their customers regarding the security of user data.

Shanghai, April 11, 2017 – GfK, in partnership with the UXalliance, will host the 12th User Experience (UX) Masterclass at the InterContinental Puxi in Shanghai on April 20.
UX Masterclass is a flagship event of the UXalliance, an international network of 25 UX firms from around the world. This annual conference brings together experts and thought leaders in the fields of user experience (UX), innovation and market research to share knowledge and best practices.

When equipped with dual channel memory and the optional 10GbE network interface, the sequential throughput performance reaches up to 1,179 MB/s reading and 542 MB/s writing speeds.
     With the capability of installing Synology’s new M2D17 PCIe adapter card, DS1517+ and DS1817+ can add dual M.2 SATA SSD as cache, boosting up the performance without occupying front drive bays for storage volume purpose.
     Both DS1517+ and DS1817+ support connecting up to two DX517 expansion units, allowing users to add up to 10 additional drive bays and scale up storage capacity on-the-fly . Increase in deliveries of nearly seven percent Porsche enjoys best first quarter in its history

Stuttgart. Porsche AG has made a strong start to 2017 with around 60,000 vehicles delivered to customers worldwide in the first quarter. This means the sports car manufacturer has exceeded the number of vehicles delivered in the same period in the previous year by around seven percent and is reflecting on the best first quarter in its history. The drivers of growth were China and the companys home market of Germany, as well as the Panamera and Macan model lines, which both saw double-digit growth.
Porsche has made a successful start with the new Panamera this trend now needs to continue throughout the rest of the year, said Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “Our attractive model range gives us an outstanding basis to achieve this”. Porsche presented no fewer than three new models at the Geneva Motor Show: the new Panamera Sport Turismo, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and the 911 GT3. The market launch for the new 911 GT3 will take place in May, with the S E-Hybrid following in July and the Panamera Sport Turismo in October. “All three models have the typical Porsche genes and will ensure that this positive start to the year continues, added Detlev von Platen. A further highlight for the Chinese market will be presented next week at the Auto Shanghai motor show.

In the first quarter of 2017, China was once again the strongest individual market. With a total of 18,126 vehicles delivered, the Chinese market exceeded last years result by ten percent. In Europe, the company delivered 19,084 units (an increase of 7 percent).

An increase of 19 percent meant that a total of 7,160 vehicles were delivered to customers in Germany. In addition to the ongoing success of the 911, of which nearly 1,600 vehicles were delivered in Germany, the new Panamera that was introduced at the end of 2016 was responsible for this significant growth. Porsche has also continued its success story in the USA, delivering 12,718 vehicles (an increase of 4 percent).

The figures for the new Panamera are particularly pleasing, having exceeded last years result by twelve percent with a total of 3,630 units delivered. Deliveries of models in the 718 model line increased by four percent, totalling 6,060 vehicles. The Macan reinforced its position as the best-selling Porsche with 24,797 units delivered, representing an increase of 15 percent.
