28 November 2016 – Ms. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the Internal Trade Department, together with Mr. John Christie, CEO of Tesco Lotus, and 14 leading FMCG companies in Thailand, launch the “United Hearts” campaign which offers a minimum of 20% discounts on more than 700 product items during November 29, 2016 until January 4, 2017 to help customers save on costs of living. The historic year-end sales is a joint investment of more than 200 million baht to slash the prices of products necessary for daily living.

28 November 2016 – Tesco Lotus is collaborating with 14 leading FMCG companies in Thailand to hold the “United Hearts: Ruamjai Helping Thais Save on Cost of Living” campaign during November 29, 2016 until January 4, 2017. As part of the campaign, more than 700 product items belonging to 27 brands will be available at at least 20% cheaper than their regular prices. The campaign is in line with the Commerce Ministry’s initiative for year-end sales to help alleviate costs of living for Thais. 
Ms. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the Internal Trade Department, said that the Ministry of Commerce’s policy encourages collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive the local trade and economy in a sustainable way, while at the same time ensuring costs of living are maintained. In order to achieve success, close colalboration between leading manufacturers and retailers is integral. The “United Hearts: Ruamjai Helping Thais Save on Cost of Living” campaign demonstrates how a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors can help deliver benefits for people.
Mr. Sompong Rungnirattisai, Commercial Director, Tesco Lotus, said that in order to help customers save on their costs of living during the upcoming seasonal period, Tesco Lotus will be hosting the “United Hearts” campaign, which involves 14 suppliers who are leading FMCG manufacturers in Thailand. More than 700 product items under 27 brands will be discounted by 20% or more. This is an investment of more than 200 million baht between Tesco Lotus and all 14 suppliers to help our customers save on daily essentials.
The “United Hearts” campaign comprises four key elements:
  1. Permanently low prices: Tesco Lotus has introduced price reductions of key product categories necessary for daily living for customers. These include fresh food, mom & baby products, snacks and rice.
  2. On-top promotions and discounts: weekly and monthly promotions help customers save even more. These include buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 1 free, cash coupons and other special discounts.
  3. Seasonal products: With the approaching holiday season, a variety of gift baskets will be available for customers, including Tesco Finest baskets containing premium imported products, OTOP baskets from local communities, and Rice Buddy gift sets from organic rice farmers in Sri Saket province.
  4. Savings on famous brands: A collaboration between Tesco Lotus and 14 suppliers to invest more than 200 million baht on 20% or more discounts on products from 27 brands.

The number of enterprises with at least one security vulnerability is the highest in five years
Bangkok, 28 November 2016– Enterprises across the globe are refreshing their network equipment earlier in its lifecycle in a move to embrace workplace mobility, Internet of Things, and software-defined networking strategies. In addition, their equipment refresh is more strategic, with architectural vision in mind. But despite the higher refresh rate, networks are getting less secure, largely due to neglected patching.

These are some of the highlights in the annual Network Barometer Report today by Dimension Data. First published in 2009, the 2016 Network Barometer Report was compiled from data gathered from 300,000 service incidents logged for client networks that Dimension Data supports. Dimension Data also carried out 320 technology lifecycle management assessments covering 97,000 network devices in organisations of all sizes and all industry sectors across 28 countries.

Brent Angus, General Manager – Networking, Dimension Data Asia Pacific said, “Since 2010, networks had been ageing. This year’s Report reverses that trend, and for the first time in five years, we’re seeing networks age more slowly.”

“Ageing networks are not necessarily a bad thing: companies just need to understand the implications. They require a different support construct, with gradually increasing support costs. On the other hand, this also means that organisations can delay refresh costs,” says Angus, and points out that ageing networks are unlikely to support initiatives such as software-defined networking and automation, or handle traffic volumes necessary for collaboration or cloud.

According to the Report, in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Australia enterprises’ network age reduced in line with the global average, while in the Americas, the number of ageing and obsolete devices decreased much faster, from 60% in the 2015 Report to 29% in the 2016 Report. This can be attributed to the release of pent-up spend following four years of financial constraint. Angus said clients in the Americas appear to be refreshing networks with the new generation of programmable infrastructure. In Asia-Pacific and Australia, equipment refresh occurred as part of data centre network redesigns.

In contrast to the global trend, in Middle East and Africa, the network age increased, possibly the result of economic uncertainty, particularly in South Africa.

Meanwhile, of the 97,000 network devices that Dimension Data discovered, the number of devices that have at least one known ¹security vulnerability increased from 60% in the 2015 Report to 76% in the 2016 Report – the highest figure in five years.

In Asia-Pacific and the Americas, networks are slightly less vulnerable - respectively 49% and 66%, compared to 61% and 73% in the previous edition. In Europe the rise in network vulnerabilities has been very steep over the last three years, hiking from 26% in 2014 to 51% in 2015 and to 82% in the 2016 Report. Network vulnerability has also risen in organisations in the Middle East and Africa over the last three years. In Australia, 87% of network devices have at least one known vulnerability.

Other highlights in the 2016 Network Barometer Report include:
  • The percentage of devices supporting IPv6 rose steeply from 21% last year to 41% this year, due to the increase in current devices in networks. This allows organisations with newer networks to support their digitisation strategies by enabling connectivity for the Internet of Things, big data, analytics, and containerisation.
  • Software-defined networking is coming soon, but not just yet. While there is market interest in software-defined networks, it’s early in the adoption cycle and today, few organisational networks are capable of supporting a software-defined approach. In 2015 less than 0.4% of devices could support software-defined WAN and only 1.3% of data centre switches were SDN-ready.
  • Incident response is 69% faster, and repair time 32% faster networks monitored by Dimension Data.
  • These numbers reduce by a further 55% and 36% respectively, when combined with Dimension Data’s service desk integration.
  • 37% of incidents are caused by configuration or human error, which can be avoided with proper monitoring, configuration management, and automation.

CarParagon portal to revolutionize buying new cars in Thailand

Smoothlane Co., Ltd., founded by two Stanford Graduate School of Business classmates, launched its CarParagon portalin Thailand today enabling new car buyers to save time, money and hassle by functioning as an online multi-brand motor show, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Potential car buyers cannot only find information on car pricing, car specifications, promotional offers from major dealers and up-to-the-minute dealer inventory, but they can also request a test drive online with just a few clicks or speak to the dealer directly from their mobile phones via the CarParagon website.  
Based on the venture-backed pre-revenuebusiness model which is being successfully used in the US and Europe, the CarParagon website will initially be available to service those living in the Greater Bangkok area before expanding nationwide and throughout Southeast Asia.

Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) prevents the wheels from locking or slipping when cornering as it ensures that C-ABS applies efficient braking pressure modulation on the front and rear wheels.

While Quickshifter enables seamless upshifting, the fun-loving Supermoto mode lets the rider block the rear wheel as required, leaving the ABS function active on the front wheel even in this mode.      KTM 1290 Super Duke GT’s innovative suspension system offers three switchable modes: ‘Comfort’, ‘Street’ and ‘Sport’ to adapt its damping characteristics to the road conditions and riding styles. 
     The new sports tourer provides increased touring capabilities with a height adjustable windshield, more comfortable seats and heated grips when travelling in cold weather. Moreover, LED cornering lights and automatically resetting LED indicators always give the perfect view to where the rider is going. The bike is fitted with Pirelli Angel GT sports touring tires for the best grip of the road surface.

December 2, 2016– dtac accelerate and Google Developer Group Thailand announced the winners of DevFest Hackathon – the first ever application development using Firebase from Google as a development platform to help developers develop better apps, reduce development time, grow user base, and earn more money. During the 2-day, 1-night event, over 80 Thai developers from 21 teams shared the same goal, which is to use ICT to change the world. The winner received prizes from Google and cash rewards from dtac, worth a total of over 420,000 Baht. 
1) The winner, Skootar, received a 100,000 Baht cash reward from dtac and prizes from Google, including Google Pixel, Google Home, Google WiFi, Chromecast Ultra, DayDream View, and Firebase credit, totaling 320,000 Baht.
2) The first runner up, Chayen, received 3x Chromecast Ultra and Firebase credit, totaling 44,000 Baht.
3) The second runner up, Fabbrigade, received 3x Chromecast Ultra and Firebase credit, totaling 26,000 Baht.
The special Rookie Star Awards were given to Huski Trip and BKK Go, who received Firebase credit and one-month free working space at Hangar, totaling 50,000 Baht. All 21 finalists received Firebase credit from Google.

Supporting energy-saving innovation at “Thailand Energy Efficiency Week 2017”

In response to the Thai government’s energy conservation plans, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has partnered with the Ministry of Energy and the Federation of Thai Industries to host “Thailand Energy Efficiency Week 2017.” With support from organizers IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. and MEX Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd., the event will bring together three exhibitions on energy-saving innovations from Thailand and throughout the world. Acting as a rallying point for some of the largest businesses in ASEAN, the event is expected to attract over 20,000 participants and raise over 1 billion baht. The exhibition will take place at Challenger 1, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand from 11th– 13th of May, 2017.

Mr.Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Deputy Governor-Corporate Social Affairs, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), reminds his audience that Phrabat Somdej Phra Paramindra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej Mahitaladhibet Ramadhibodi Chakrinarubodindara Sayamindaradhiraj Boromanatbophit, who was once regarded as the “father of energy development in Thailand,” should be praised for his efforts in laying the groundwork for energy efficiency and sustainability in Thailand, in order the whole country, across every sector, may achieve self-sufficiency based on its existing resources. His Majesty’s words should also remind us all to respect and cherish our country’s natural resources, and to use these resources sparingly, as befits their tremendous value.It is, therefore, an obligation of EGAT, as a public institution, to continue His Majesty’s work in improving Thailand’s energy system, in a way that lays the foundations for Thailand’s national development. Additionally, EGAT also continues to campaign for every sector in Thailand to cooperate in reducing its energy consumption level significantly and continuously. This includes through EGAT’s support for innovation in energy-saving technologies, so that Thailand can be prepared for future changes in the energy industry. Thailand’s energy usage is increasing every year, and in 2017, based on current trends, total electricity consumption is expected to reach up to 30,000 megawatts.

With this being so, EGAT is proud to act as host of “Thailand Energy Efficiency Week 2017” - An International Exhibition for Energy-Efficient Products and Technology – in order to encourage and stimulate for the use of sustainable and energy-saving equipment in Thailand. It is hoped that the exhibition will facilitate an exchange of knowledge between participants in areas such as lighting, energy and electronics, in ways that are beneficial both for Thailand and the wider ASEAN region.     MRTA & Department of Consular Affairs Unveiled Bangkok’s Newest Passport Office at Khlong Toei MRT Station

    Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), Bangkok Metro Networks Limited (BMN) and Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together introduced Bangkok’s newest passport office at Khlong Toei MRT Station. This marked the first time for the department to open a new passport office inside MRT System. With aim to offer people in both epicenter of Bangkok as well as people in outer part of the city more convenient channel to apply for passport service, the new passport office at Khlong Toei MRT Station is officially opened and begun its service from December 9, 2016.

    Mr.Suwat Jirapan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said “There are more and more Thai people traveling abroad nowadays. A large number of people combined with problems from Bangkok traffic as well as inadequate parking space which urged us to improve our service at each passport office.         The company has introduced ‘Prodigy Series’ products specifically designed to enhance gaming experiences. The new products — two models of gaming mice, keyboard and headset— feature advanced technology, ease of use and sleek designs.

    The newly launched Logitech G Prodigy Series products include Logitech® G403 Prodigy™ Gaming Mouse, Logitech® G403 Prodigy™ Wireless Gaming Mouse, Logitech® G213 Prodigy™ RGB Gaming Keyboard, and Logitech® G231 Prodigy Headset.
        Hot technologies in 2017 will include wireless products, which feature a high growth rate, such as Logitech M331 Silent Plus and the Logitech M221 Silent Wireless Mice. These are the first silent mice developed by Logitech, and they have gained good market recognition. Logitech has continuously developed and designed a variety of products with Bluetooth technology including Bluetooth mice, Bluetooth keyboards and Bluetooth headsets to satisfy market demands. One highlighted feature of Logitech products lies in their ability to connect up to three devices at the same time.
        “While several IT companies may expect a flat growth rate in 2017, Logitech would continue its sequential growth as its sales grew 30 percent in every quarter in 2016. With a wider range of products, including gaming and wireless products, we can continuously promote and market our offerings for various segments. Despite increasing number of cheaper mice imported from China, most consumers still prefer to use high-quality products from a trusted brand like Logitech,” added Ms. Siranee.
