The atmosphere of the launch of “Taste the Feeling” campaign.
“Taste the Feeling” campaign, with the core idea that drinking a Coca-Cola, any Coca-Cola makes every moment more special.

The ‘One Brand’ Strategy:
  • Extends the global equity and iconic appeal of original Coca-Cola across the Trademark, uniting the Coca-Cola family under the world’s number one beverage brand.
  • Comes to life in a global campaign“Taste the Feeling”– that uses universal storytelling and everyday moments to connect with consumers around the world.
  • Features the product at the heart of the creative, celebrating the experience and simple pleasure of drinking a Coca-Cola, any Coca-Cola.
  • Underscores the Company’s commitment to choice, allowing consumers to choose whichever Coca-Cola suits their taste, lifestyle, and diet.

The host of the launch event at Parc Paragon was Ms. Claudia Navarro, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola (Thailand) Ltd. who shared details of the campaign.  Also present were the system’s executives Mr. Antonio del Rosario, General Manager of Coca-Cola (Thailand) Ltd., Mr. Pornwut Sarasin, Chairman of ThaiNamthip Co., Ltd, Mr. Jorge Chazarreta, President of ThaiNamthip Co., Ltd., Maj.Gen. Patchara Rattakul, Chief Operating Officer of HaadThip Plc. and Mr. Iain McLaughlin ASEAN Business Unit President, The Coca-Cola Company.  Joining the event were leading Thai celebrities led by the actress ‘Toey – Jarinporn Joonkiat’.

“Every day, millions of people around the world reach for an ice-cold Coca-Cola,” said Marcos de Quinto, Chief Marketing Officer, The Coca-Cola Company.  “The new ‘One Brand’ approach will share the equity of Coca-Cola, across all Coca-Cola Trademark products…showing how everyone can enjoy the specialness of an ice-cold Coca-Cola, with or without calories, with or without caffeine.”

Taste the Feeling,” is rolling out across all markets globally.  In Thailand, an investment of over Bht 500 million supports the campaign, which will come to life through a number of elements, including: 5 Television commercials; 50+ campaign images; new visual identity system; and a customizable interactive digital experience.

The creative campaign is anchored in the fundamentals of the Coca-Cola brand – the Spencerian script, the red disc and the iconic glass bottle – but with a modern take, featuring authentic and real moments with the product at center stage.

At the launch event at Parc Paragon, Ms. Navarro unveiled 5 television commercials created for the campaign and produced by top creative talent around the world: Mercado-McCann, Sra. Rushmore, Santo, and Ogilvy & Mather New York.  The spots give the viewer momentary, but intimate glimpses into everyday stories, feelings and experiences that people share while enjoying an ice-cold Coca-Cola.  The lead television spot currently playing in Thailand is “Anthem,” (Mercado-McCann), and it comes to life through a series of ordinary moments like ice-skating with friends; a first date; or a kiss.  Coca-Cola links all these universal moments.

The soundtrack to “Anthem” is an original song created for the campaign and titled “Taste the Feeling.” Coca-Cola worked with Music Dealers to write and produce the song. In select markets, the song features the voice of newcomer ‘Conrad Sewell’*. Sewell, a London-born, Australia-raised singer was featured in the breakout single “Firestone,” which produced 3 million-plus worldwide sales. Continuing a partnership he’s had with the Coca-Cola Company since 2014, ‘Avicii’** has also produced a remix of the “Taste the Feeling” campaign anthem.  This remix will be featured in subsequent commercials.  The anthem includes a new audio signature, inspired by the sounds of the experience of enjoying a Coca-Cola – the pop of the cap, the fizz, and ultimately the sounds of enjoyment.  The new audio signature will be used throughout the campaign.
Noted fashion photographers Guy Aroch and Nacho Ricci shot the the campaign Images.  They captured people from around the world enjoying ice-cold Coca-Cola in a variety of everyday moments.  In Thailand, these images will be featured in iconic out of home locations across the country.

The shareable and customizable interactive digital experience is made up of different GIF scenes that reflect feelings associated with drinking Coca-Cola set to the “Taste the Feeling” anthem.  The experience allows users to pull a GIF scene directly from the microsite, personalize the scene with real-time feelings, and share it on social platforms with #TasteTheFeeling.

Ms. Navarro also revealed that a major highlight of the on-the-ground activities locally will be a special fleet of Coca-Cola’s ‘Taste the Feeling’ trucks.  These will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology that enables the truck doors to open automatically when the temperature inside dips to 3 degrees Celsius: the ideal temperature to enjoy Coca-Cola.  Over a million people in Thailand will enjoy this perfectly served Coca-Cola.

In closing, Ms. Navarro quoted American artist Andy Warhol who once said: “A Coke is a Coke, and no money in the world can buy you a better Coke.”  What he was highlighting here is that the experience of drinking a Coke is the same for all of us regardless of who we are.  In other words, I would venture out to say that if a Thai superstar like “Bird – Thongchai McIntyre” and I were to have a conversation and talk about our lives, we’d find that there was probably very little in common: we probably wear different clothes; eat at different places; drive different cars; go to different shows.  However, if we were to talk about drinking a Coke, we could probably relate to a simple moment of enjoyment; a simple pleasure.”
The market for non-alcoholic sparkling beverages in Thailand in 2015 was valued at Bht 50 billion.  The Coca-Cola system was the market leader with a market share of 59%.  [Source: The Nielsen Company (Thailand) Ltd.]

dtac announced THB 0.52 per share dividend for Q4/15

February 3, 2016– dtac reported total revenues and net profit for Q415 of THB23.2 billion and THB998 million, respectively. From operating results in Q415, dtac declared dividend of THB0.52 per share, a payout ratio of 124% and subject to the approval of the annual general meeting.

For the full year 2015, dtac generated total revenues and net profit of THB87.8 billion and THB5.9 billion, respectively. Revenue from data service surpassed that from voice service for the first time in 2015 due to the change in mobile phone usage behavior. Despite strong growth in demand for data service, its revenue growth was more than offset by the decline in voice revenue, resulting in the decline in total service revenue excluding IC of 3.0% from previous year.

In order to take a leading position in 4G service, dtac increased its investment in network to THB20.2 billion in 2015, rolling out 4G network on 20MHz bandwidth, highest among mobile operators in the market, in BMA and more than 40 cities throughout Thailand. Furthermore, it plans to further strengthen its network in 2016 by investing similar amount of CAPEX to expand 4G network coverage to reach every province in the country, and to extend 3G coverage to 95% of population.

In 2015, dtac increased spending on network expenses along with network expansion; and on selling, marketing, and general administrative expenses, and handset subsidy to address higher level of competition. Moreover, depreciation and amortization expenses went up due to higher level of investment in the networks as mentioned above. The increases were partly offset by the decline in regulatory cost. Consequently, net profit declined 45% from previous year.

dtac is fully committed to becoming the leading Digital Service provider and continues to improve and expand its networks, now reaching an all-time high of 94% population coverage. In addition, dtac continues nationwide network campaign, initially launched in late Q3-15, to capitalize on the improvement of its network and offers attractive price plans and handset bundle packages to customers.
We provide outlook for 2016 based on high uncertainty in the market from competition and pending entry of a new player following the conclusion of the auctions in Dec 2015, in addition to weak recovery of the overall economy. The outlook for 2016 comprises (1) flat/slight increase in service revenue excluding IC from last year, (2) EBITDA margin in the range of 27% - 31%, and (3) similar CAPEX level as last year.

Lars Norling, dtac’s Chief Executive Officer, said “Our immediate focus is on bringing revenue growth back and maintaining revenue market share. We plan to achieve it through additional investment in 4G network on both 1800MHz and 2.1GHz to serve the huge demand for mobile data services and in 3G network to reach 95% of population coverage, as well as value-for-money offerings on price plans and handset deals to customers. Furthermore, we plan to launch a new brand platform in order to refresh the brand image and improve our position in the market. The new platform will be a solid foundation for innovative products and services, and a preemptive move in order to prepare for the entry of a new player.”

Suzuki enjoy sales growth and welcomes new management and brand ambassador

  • Suzuki’s automobile market share grew from 2.29% to 2.66% while the total Thai automobile market suffered a decline of 9.06%.
  • Challenging target of 24,000 units set for 2016 with market share expected to reach 3%.
  • Suzuki has signed up Kiatisak Senamuang as the brand amnassador for the second consecutive year, and will fully support sporting activities.
Bangkok, Thailand – Suzuki Motor (Thailand) recently staged a press conference to introduce its new President Mr. Yoji Murosaka, while Sales and Marketing Director Mr. Wallop Treererkngarm announced the company’s 2015 operating results and plans for 2016.
The event, which was held at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Bangkok on February 3, also saw the introduction of the 2016 Suzuki brand ambassador.
Mr. Yoji Murosaka joined Suzuki in 1989 in the Overseas Markets division, starting off working with the United States market followed by Europe. Apart from auto sales, Mr. Murosaka was also the Manager of Suzuki’s plant construction project in Hungary from 2002-2007 and in Russia from 2007-2009. With his expertise in corporate planning, he was also later appointed as Suzuki’s General Manager for the Asian market. Mr. Murosaka was responsible for new product investment planning in the region, including production and export between plants in India and the ASEAN region.
In June 2014, Mr. Murosaka was appointed as Director of Suzuki Motor (Thailand) Co. Ltd., the same year that Suzuki introduced the Celerio and commenced exports to ASEAN and European markets.
Mr. Murosaka also played an important role in expanding and strengthening the Suzuki dealership network. During a time of economic difficulty, Suzuki dealers showed strong determination and were able to beat the tough times with increased sales during the past year.
Mr. Murosaka said that as the President of Suzuki Motor (Thailand) Co. Ltd., his duty is to overcome any obstacle between Suzuki and its customers. This includes the following:
1.    Developing products with greater value for the customer.
2.    Creating change and innovation within the organization through teamwork.
3.    Make use of each individual’s outstanding qualities on a continuous basis.
Mr. Murosaka added that Suzuki sales in the Thai automobile market in 2015 reached 21,285 units, posing a growth of 5.5%. This has enabled the brand to increase its market share to 2.66% within a slowing economy.
“We introduced the Suzuki Swift and Suzuki Celerio that created much excitement in the Eco Car market and helped make Suzuki a highly popular brand in Thailand, and this led to Suzuki quickly becoming the leader in the compact car market. During the third quarter of 2015, we introduced the Ciaz sedan that also qualifies for Eco Car privileges, and offers extremely high value-for-money and fuel efficiency. The Ciaz beats other sedans in the market with its elegant design and spacious interior, plus excellent performance, fuel economy and eco-friendliness. At the 32nd Motor Expo, we also introduced the Ciaz RS that comes with all-round aero parts that lifts its image as a sporty eco car for the new generation. With the Ciaz, customers are able to access a car with high standards in terms of safety and fuel efficiency, as well as attractive design and suitable pricing. These are the values that Suzuki has been holding on to in developing products for our customers. Suzuki offers not only automobiles to customers in Thailand but also various services and we concentrate on customer satisfaction as we want to become a good friend for Thai customers.”
Mr. Wallop, Suzuki Motor (Thailand)’s sales and marketing director, said, “In 2015 Suzuki sales reached 21,285 units, up 5.5% compared to the previous year and equivalent to a 2.66% market share (up from 2.29% in 2014). This is considered as another success for Suzuki in Thailand, and this year, there may still be some concerns for effects from the economic slowdown, and the automobile market is expected to finish the year at the same level as 2015. But Suzuki sees a positive sign and we expect the auto market to gradually recover thanks to positive factors such as increased government spending that will help generate cash circulation, as well as the lower fuel prices. Suzuki continues to strengthen its business and raise the capabilities of its staff to global levels. Suzuki also concentrates on product quality and service excellence, in order to maintain high levels of customer awareness for the Suzuki brand.”
In terms of marketing activities this year, Suzuki will continue to support and promote sports with our sports marketing strategy, particularly in football. In 2016, Suzuki will delight the fans once again by being the main sponsor of the AFF Suzuki Cup, and also introduce the brand ambassador who will help customers connect with the Suzuki brand. Kiatisak Senamuang is the famous Thailand national football team head coach who led the Thai team to win the AFF Suzuki Cup for the fourth time in 2014. Kiatisak is taking up the position as Suzuki brand ambassador for the second consecutive year.
“Khun Zico (Kiatisak) has the perfect character to become the brand ambassador for Suzuki as he is the inspiration for the Thai people all over the country. He also has the understanding and determination to take the team to victory – just like Suzuki that stresses on offering quality products and services. We want to provide customers with motoring happiness like our “Way of Life” slogan suggests. The past year Zico’s presence was able to help connect the Suzuki Ciaz with target customers more effectively and this year he will continue to participate in our brand’s activities too,”   he said.

Mr. Wallop added that Suzuki still follows its original production plans for the domestic and export markets.
“In 2015 we produced a total of 60,357 vehicles, with 39,072 units being for exports and 21,285 units for the domestic market. The Thai-made Celerio is exported to European markets with a volume of 37,914 units last year,” he said.
In terms of after sales service, Suzuki plans to strengthen customer confidence and provide improved service through the 3S philosophy consisting of Sales, Service and Spare Parts.
“This is achieved by introducing products with high quality along with offering impressive service quality and spare parts. We also strive to improve after-sales quality with 24-hour parts delivery service, and Suzuki has been investing much in training mechanics and staff at dealerships to raise the service quality for customers,” he said.
“Suzuki presently has 99 dealerships in Thailand and plans to raise the number to 110 dealers by the end of 2016, to ensure a smooth transition into the Asean Economic Community and allow customers to receive the best products and services from Suzuki,” Mr. Wallop concluded.

SEC announces Anti-corruption Progress Indicators 2015 assessment results of Thai listed companies

$

0
Bangkok, February 4, 2016– In the continued support to Thaipat Institute’s assessment of Thai listed companies based on the 2015 Anti-corruption Progress Indicators, the SEC has marked an overall satisfactory improvement among 585 (*)listed companies. The rise of 13 such companies to Progress Level 5 (out of 6 levels) indicated extended efforts to involve stakeholders in the implementation of corporate policies against corruption of all kinds.”
SEC Secretary-General Rapee Sucharitakul said: “The Anti-corruption Progress Indicators is one of the initiatives emerging from the Sustainability Development Roadmap and endorsed by the SEC. We encourage listed companies to run business responsibly based on good corporate governance principles for the best interest of stakeholders and the society at large. In so doing, it is crucial for the 585 listed companies to execute serious anti-corruption measures, and the tangible, positive results thereof could set a good example for their peers and other business sectors. The 13 listed companies, which have achieved Progress Level 5 out of 6 levels is a case in point.”
The 13 Level 5 achievers are: (1) The Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited (BCP), (2) Central Pattana Public Company Limited (CPN), (3) Goodyear (Thailand) Public Company Limited (GYT), (4) Premier Enterprise Public Company Limited (PE), (5) Premier Marketing Public Company Limited (PM), (6) Premier Products Public Company Limited (PPP), (7) Premier Technology Public Company Limited (PT), (8) PTT Public Limited Company (PTT), (9) PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (PTTGC), (10) Somboon Advance Technology Public Company Limited (SAT), (11) The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCC), (12) Ratchthani Leasing Public Company Limited (THANI), and (13) Thai Oil Public Company Limited (TOP).
The 2015 Anti-corruption Progress Indicators record shows a continued progress across the board. For example, in 2014, the majority or 29.10 percent of the listed firms were ranked at Level 2, which indicates declaration of intent to join the Collective Action Coalition against Corruption, and none of them reached Level 5. In comparison to 2015, the majority or 44.44 percent achieved Level 3, which signifies establishment of anti-corruption measures, e.g., refusal to pay bribery, no involvement in corruptive attempts and sanctions against those who do, as well as communication and staff training with respect to anti-corruption policy and practice.

In addition, the assessment shows a significant decline, from 39.33 percent in 2014 to 8.82 percent in 2015, of the Level 0 group, which indicates no disclosure or unavailability of anti-corruption policy or having an unclear policy against corruption. In any case, the SEC will continue to keep a close watch on listed companies’ anti-corruption development.

“The Anti-corruption Progress Indicators assessment helps to gauge the overall development of listed companies and could be a guideline for laying out a business strategic plan. From investors’ standpoint, the assessment could reflect how seriously determined listed companies are in fighting off corruption, and by extension, become a key factor when it comes to making an investment decision in such companies,” said Mr. Rapee.
The complete Anti-corruption Progress Indicator assessment information is available on www.cgthailand.org.

(*)The participants in the Anti-corruption Progress Indicators 2015 assessment consist of 477 SET-listed companies and 108 mai-listed companies, excluding 65 non-listed securities companies, asset management companies and derivatives brokers which entered the assessment for the first time, thus making the total number of 650. For more information, visit www.sec.or.th and www.cgthailand.org.

Enables mobile productivity while protecting employee privacy and company confidential information

  • Secure separation of corporate and personal email, calendars and contacts
  • File encryption for data moving between mobile devices and cloud storage
  • Improved employee productivity with Secure Corporate Browser
  • Comprehensive device support

Oxford, U.K.  2016 – Sophos (LSE: SOPH), a global leader in network and endpoint security, today announced the availability of Sophos Mobile Control 6.0, which now includes Sophos Secure Email, a container solution that isolates and secures business data from personal information on devices. Sophos Mobile Control 6.0 also enhances data protection capabilities and allows IT managers to oversee devices used throughout their organization through a simple interface and intuitive workflows.

Within Sophos Mobile Control 6.0 is Sophos Secure Email, a personal information management (PIM) container solution for email, calendar and contacts. Personal and corporate data can be separated, allowing organizations to manage business data security while enhancing user privacy. IT administrators can remotely provision email to employee mobile devices across popular platforms, including iOS, and multiple Android versions.

Also new to version 6.0 is Sophos Secure Workspace which includes Corporate Browser to facilitate safe access to frequently used business productivity sites and applications. Sophos Secure Workspace enables employees to seamlessly access and collaborate on the documents they need, when they need them, in a secure manner. Users also can control levels of access and publishing rights for various cloud storage providers like Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Egnyte. For additional protection, users now can securely move documents and data between mobile devices, cloud storage and corporate endpoints as Sophos SafeGuard file encryption is built in.

With the continued growth in mobile malware, the ability to detect and quarantine infected devices is a growing priority for enterprise mobility management (EMM). In fact, more than 95 percent of attacks today involve harvesting credentials from customer devices and using those stolen credentials to log in to web applications, according to Verizon 2015 Data Breach Investigations Report.

Device security is especially difficult to manage in mid-size enterprises that have widely distributed workforces, yet are resource-stretched. A September 2015 CompTIA study, Managing the Multi-Generational Workforce, showed that nearly half (46 percent) of small and mid-sized businesses have now fully adopted BYOD as a standard practice, as opposed to only 28 percent of large enterprises.

“It’s too easy for employees to unknowingly download dangerous apps that expose valuable corporate data, or worse, provide an open path to business networks,” said Dan Schiappa, senior vice president and general manager of Sophos Enduser Group. “Providing management, anti-malware and data protection for mobile devices is just as important as it is for laptops or any other corporate asset – the devices are small but they can be hacked and cracked just like any PC. Balancing the levels of productivity and access demanded by users today with the growing need for tighter data security requires the ability to manage and protect. Having an enterprise mobility management solution with integrated security is becoming a critical need to organizations of any size.”

Sophos Mobile Control 6.0 also detects jail-broken or rooted devices, plus malware and potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). The product blocks infected or non-compliant devices from entering the corporate network and automatically blocks malicious or undesirable websites. A recent analysis by third party AV-Test confirmed that Sophos Mobile Control 5.5 detected 100 percent of known Android malware applied during the test period. All of this is done behind the scenes to users so that productivity isn’t sacrificed and critical, confidential data remains private and safe.

Sophos Mobile Control 6.0 is available now from the global network of Sophos certified partners.

Opening Reception: 9th February 2016 at 17.00 hrs. at Main Gallery, 7th Floor
In 2310 B.E. (1767) while Thailand’s capital, Ayuthaya, was devastated by the second defeat in the historical war, by which major parts of the city including temples and cultural glories of Ayuthaya were set on fire and city was obliterated, Phetchaburi continued to prosper with high arts and culture from the early Ayuthaya period without being affected by wars.  As many have said, “Phetchaburi is the living Ayuthaya."
This exhibition takes visitors through learning processes with which students, scholars, artists, and designers from Silpakorn University have been exploring the Phetchaburi’s masterful works of art, culture, and architecture throughout the Faculty’s 60 years since the day it was founded.  The outcomes of these studies of Petchaburi’s arts and crafts have been in diverse forms — photographs, art pieces derived from field experiences, technically and artistic surveyed drawings (VERNADOC) and scaled architectural models representing fine details of buildings, components, and original/creative art on the them.  In addition, a native Phetchaburi artist, Khun Korakot Aromdee, has created a new bamboo structure highlighting the local wisdom of Phetchaburi.  This will be specially made to fit the BACC’s Main Exhibition space and will also thread through and connect different parts of this exhibition.
It is important to learn from Phetchaburi culture to genuinely understand the past and the present in order to create new works in many fields that sustain the relevance of Thai culture to today’s fast-changing life.

dtac Accelerate announces the signing MOU to develop ecosystem and boost startups in Thailand

February 10, 2016 – Mr. Sompoat Chansomboon, Director of Business Innovation & dtac Accelerate, represented dtac Accelerate, the startup incubation program by Total Access Communication PLC or dtac, to sign Memorandum of Understanding with over 60 parties of government agencies, private financial institutions, and educational institutions to support and develop startup ecosystem for new business with Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship (IDE startups). The program was honored by the attendance of Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, to preside over the signing ceremony along with Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Vice Minister of Commerce, and Mr. Supant Mongkolsuthee, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, acting as the Chief Government Sector and the Chief of Private Sector of the working group on the SMEs startups & Social Enterprises, respectively.

Mr. Sompoat Chansomboon, Director of Business Innovation & dtac Accelerate, stated that “Government and private sectors have been working together to build startup ecosystem in Thailand to increase the opportunity, create business model, raise fund, and accelerate growth of Thai startups so we can take our startups to international market. As of now, many Thai startups have to register their companies in other countries, such as Singapore or Malaysia. In regard to this matter, the government sector can step in and help by formulating policy and making law to benefit Thai startups in competition with other countries. For examples, capital gain tax policy should give more advantages for Thai startups when exit or sell their companies, or allow foreign investors to hold more than 49% share, and make ESOP (Employee Stock Option) legal for Thai startup employees is also important. At the present, these limitations become barriers for the registered startups in Thailand to run their business, not like registered startups in Singapore, Malaysia or Vietnam where the regarded government policies are already adjusted.

And today, dtac Accelerate has had a pleasure to collaborate with government sectors to support and boost the potential of Thai startups to expand and grow in Thailand and other countries. We have been arranging dtac Accelerate program for 3 consecutive years, which is well accepted by startups due to the strong points in world-class startup curriculum for Silicon Valley, including part of seed fund and strategic alliance support to reach over 200 million customers of dtac and Telenor in 13 countries worldwide. We also promote Thai startup community by establishing HANGAR Co-Working Space, the No. 1 Community of Innovation. It is the place for Thai startups to meet, to work, and to organize events, conferences, and continuous activities of program developers. This year, dtac Accelerate will start accepting applications for startups to join the program for the 4th year, or Batch 4, in this coming March.”
